About this trip

Following up on their inaugural competition tour to Europe in 2023, Carroll Football returns to visit iconic Italy in May of 2026! Adventurous student-athletes and family members are encouraged to be part of this unique, and in a sense, once-in-a-lifetime experience. For a more detailed look at the itinerary, scroll below and click on each day. In sum, the journey begins impressively as arrival day takes travelers to explore and enjoy famous Venice, the 'The Floating City.' After a much-needed night of rest, the group transfers toward Tuscany with a day-stop in the understated gem of Bologna, which has been thoroughly enjoyed by past AFW travelers.  The following day, travelers will enjoy exquisitely beautiful Cinque Terre, five charming villages at the base of or upon cliffs, rising from the coast of the Ligurian Sea. The next day provides an excursion to artistically revered Florence - 'Birthplace of the Renaissance'. After this 3-night stay in Tuscany, the group will begin a drive south to Rome. On the way there will be a day stop in well-preserved, medieval Siena, with its charming town square, the Campo. Arriving in Rome, after check-in and dinner, the evening is open to explore. On the team's first full day in Rome, Saturday, May 16, 2026, travelers will experience the magnificence of Rome, seeing the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Navona Square, and concluding with a late morning entry into the famous Roman Coliseum and the Roman Forum. Later that afternoon, the Pioneers display their American football prowess in a special international game against their Italian hosts, the Lazio Marines. A post-game celebration dinner should be festive. On the final full day in Italy, the team and fellow travelers will visit Vatican City, including the remarkable St. Peter's Basilica. We hope to be able to add a visit to the Vatican Museums, which ends in the Sistine Chapel, as an option. The last evening, there is a final Tour Celebration Dinner at an authentic Italian pizzeria.

Key Terms and Conditions

The current pricing is a responsible and professional estimated quote.  Final pricing after airfare is formally booked, air taxes are assessed, and upon final payment, based on currency exchange at that time.  Pricing was quoted at 1.08 US$ to 1 Euro.

Pricing is also based on cash payment. The deposit becomes non-refundable when Coach confirms the tour. Cancellation penalties can begin in the fall as reservations for services need to be secured in popular places in Italy. Please read and note all terms relative to inclusions, pricing, payment plans, cancellation terms and penalties, etc., found in the Carroll Football Italy Travelers Information Document . If not received in prior correspondence, please request from AFW via info@americanfootballworldwide.com.

Fundraising Opportunity for Athletes

After registration (click on "Select" below) players will be able to fundraise using our streamlined system with contributions going directly to their tour account. Create your 'Contribution Page' and forward to relatives, supporters and family friends as well as posting to your social media. Past AFW players have raised thousands of dollars in donations and some, with determined effort, have fundraised the remaining tour cost.
