Join us in climbing for a cause—because when we climb, they rise!
Every climb has a summit. Every dream has a destination. For Anyes, a SEGA Girls’ School graduate, that destination was once uncertain—but thanks to the Continuing Education Scholarship Program, her future is now limitless.
Growing up in challenging circumstances, Anyes faced a reality where education was often out of reach for girls like her. But at SEGA, she found more than a school—she found a family, a purpose, and a path forward. SEGA nurtured her confidence, leadership, and academic skills, preparing her for the next step: university.
With support from the Continuing Education Scholarship Fund, Anyes is now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Education at one of Tanzania’s top universities. Her goal? To give back by becoming a teacher, inspiring and empowering the next generation of girls—just as SEGA did for her.
“I want to help other girls believe in themselves and see education as their key to success,” Anyes shares. “SEGA gave me this opportunity, and now I want to do the same for others.”
Your participation helps fund scholarships that make stories like Anyes’s possible. Every dollar raised fuels a girl’s journey from hardship to higher education, from student to leader, from dreamer to achiever.
So as you take each step up Kilimanjaro, know that you are lifting up girls like Anyes—giving them the chance to climb toward their own dreams.
“I am forever thankful to all the SEGA members and Nurturing Minds supporters for playing such great roles in supporting many girls here in Tanzania. ”
When you climb Mount Kilimanjaro, every step you take helps fund scholarships for graduates of the SEGA Girls’ School, empowering bright young women to pursue university and vocational education.
Even better? Thanks to the U-Go University Graduate Scholarships program, they will match up to $50,000 that is raised! With fun campaigns like $1 per foot (Mount Kilimanjaro is 19,341 feet tall!), personalized fundraising pages, and full support from our team from Nurturing Minds, you will be equipped to reach your goal and beyond. Your climb fuels education, leadership, and lasting change!
In Tanzania, only 16% of women complete upper secondary school, which is the minimum level of education required to qualify for university. Of that small number, fewer than 1 in 20 are able to then matriculate to university. For so many marginalized young women, the dream of university is nearly impossible due to numerous challenges that include cultural barriers, early marriage, teenage pregnancy, family poverty and a tendency to favor the awarding of limited opportunities to young men.
Together, we provide a crucial pipeline of financial resources to help them pursue better futures through education. In the first two years of the partnership, 178 talented young women have been able to attend university, including some of the most prestigious in Africa.
