We’ll visit historical landmarks like the Christuskirche, Tintenpalast, and Independence Memorial Museum. It’s a gentle, grounding way to begin our journey.

Breakfast and dinners included
Early morning start as we head south to the Namib Naukluft Park.
The drive is about 6 hours and we will arrive at the Tok Tokkie Trails base by 13h00, where their friendly team will welcome you with some refreshments. You can refill water and pack your small daypack for the personal items you would like to take along on the walk. Your luggage will be transferred to the overnight camp by vehicle.
The trails starts with a visit of the Namib Desert Environmental Education Trust (NaDEET), a non-profit, donor sponsored trust, which aims to develop environmentally responsible citizens of Namibia. (www.nadeet.org).
A short scenic drive takes you to the starting point of the Tok Tokkie Trail. Today, you will walk over a slope strewn with mysterious “fairy circles” and over rolling sand dunes to the first overnight camp. The dunes are not the massive ones encountered at Sossusvlei, but small, vegetated dunes that have a unique beauty of their own.
At camp, take in the the magnificent scenery while immersing yourself in yoga, breathing in the freshness of nature… This will be an unforgettable first night sleeping under the stars. If the sky is clear and moonless, you will quickly understand why NamibRand Nature Reserve is one of the few International Dark Sky Reserves in the world.
Walking time: 1 – 2 hrs
Day 2 & 3
Sleep under the stars - Each night on the Tok Tokkie Trails, you’ll sleep in an open-air bed set on a private sand dune, with soft bedding, lantern light, and the night sky stretched above you.
All meals and water included.
Begin your days with early morning coffee or tea, followed by a light breakfast before setting off. Lunch is enjoyed in the shade, offering simple yet satisfying fare prepared by the trail chefs. Evenings feature three-course dinners served under the stars, complemented by a selection of drinks including beer, wine, and soft beverages. All meals are thoughtfully prepared in the heart of the desert, providing nourishment and comfort amidst the serene surroundings
Early morning tea or coffee is served before sunrise yoga, followed by a light breakfast so that you can set off in the cool of the early morning. The highlights of the walk are the breath-taking views of the dunes and plains as well as the “coming alive” of the desert as the guide allows you to feel, smell, taste and see the oldest living desert in the world. The “morning news”, as written in the sand is always fascinating and with some luck and the guide’s trained eyes, you may spot some of the desert specials (golden mole, dancing white lady, barking gecko, dune lark, flightless wasp just to name a few). You walk over a mountain saddle before descending gently to a dry riverbed.
During the course of the day your guide will explain some wonders of the Namib to you - how the fascinating desert flora survives, how insect and reptile life adapts to the harsh environment and how mammals can survive here without water. Birding is surprisingly good and you may be lucky enough to see one of Namib endemics, the dune lark. Larger animals you might come across include bat-eared fox, oryx, springbok and ostrich. As we realize that our survival depends on the water that has been deposited for us, this will probably heighten our admiration for the plants and animals that dwell here.
For lunch we will stop at a shady spot where you can enjoy the treats prepared by our chefs and fill up your water bottles. There is plenty of time to relax, have a siesta and reflect on all you have seen. As the heat recedes you start walking again up and over the dunes to your second overnight spot. The scene in front of you is a sea of endless dunes and “fairy circles” against a backdrop of magnificent mountain scenery. Photography is spectacular! The shadows on the dunes create an ever-changing palette of colors shortly before sunset. Sundowner yoga and a delicious dinner after a long and enjoyable day. You might just hear some barking geckos, owls or just deafening silence.
Walking time: Morning: 4 – 4.5 hrs / Afternoon: 2 – 2.5 hrs.
Once again you are woken in the soft light shortly before sunrise. A light breakfast before you set off through the dune field. The soft and rolling dunes are interspersed by camel thorn trees, which provide welcome shade for a rest. Today’s walk is easy and you arrive at Tok Tokkie farmhouse at approximately 11:30.
Walking time: morning: 3 – 3.5 hrs
Please note! Sometimes the trail is walked the other way around and the landscape will be seen at different times of the day than described above.
Once back at the main camp, we will head to our next destination - Sossusvlei. Relax at the pool for the rest of the afternoon. Tomorrow morning calls for an early start to visit Sossusvlei and Deadvlei.
Afternoon yoga session followed by dinner.
Day 4 & 5
Nestled in a serene valley near Sossusvlei, Desert Homestead Lodge offers comfortable thatched chalets with panoramic views of the Namib Desert and Naukluft Mountains. The Namib Desert is the oldest desert in the world and stretches over 1500km with dunes reaching heights of 300m. If you feel up for it, why not join me to climb Big Daddy, admiring Deadvlei and surrounds from above. There’s something so magical as you sit quietly and take in the energy of this Desert.
After taking some amazing photos at Deadvlei, we will visit Sesriem Canyon, then head to back to our lodge to cool off in the pool, relax and admire the views. Sunset yoga or optional horse back riding in the Desert.
Sossusvlei
Sossusvlei is a place of profound stillness and natural harmony, where the towering red dunes meet the vast desert sky. Walking barefoot on the soft sand is a grounding experience, while the silence of Deadvlei invites deep reflection. The shifting light and endless horizons inspire mindfulness, making Sossusvlei a sanctuary for inner peace and renewal.
Deadvlei
Deadvlei is a surreal, timeless landscape that invites deep presence and contemplation. The ancient, sun-scorched trees stand in stark contrast to the white clay pan and vibrant dunes, creating a space of stillness and introspection. Here, the silence is almost tangible, allowing for a moment of complete mindfulness—where past and present dissolve, and only the breath remains.
Sesriem Canyon
Sesriem Canyon is a hidden sanctuary of tranquility, carved over millennia by the gentle persistence of water. Walking through its cool, shaded passage offers a sense of retreat from the vast desert, a reminder of nature’s quiet strength. The layered rock formations whisper stories of time and transformation, inviting reflection, grounding, and a deep connection to the earth’s wisdom.
Drifting above Sossusvlei at sunrise in a hot air balloon is a breathtaking journey of serenity and wonder. As the golden light illuminates the endless dunes, there’s a sense of weightlessness—both in body and mind. Floating in silence, with only the occasional whisper of the wind, this experience offers a deep connection to nature’s vastness, inviting pure presence and awe.
If anyone has booked the hot air ballooning experience, we’ll depart for their offices around 4:30 AM and return by 11 AM latest. After reuniting with the other guests at the lodge, we’ll continue our journey to the Skeleton Coast for exciting activities and a refreshing dose of the Atlantic Ocean’s crisp sea breeze.

Respect wildlife: Namibia is home to stunning wildlife, including desert-adapted animals. Always maintain a safe distance, follow your guide’s instructions, and never disturb animals in their natural habitat.

Be mindful of the sun: The African sun can be intense, even on cooler days. Use high-SPF sunscreen, wear a hat, and seek shade when necessary.
Respect local cultures: Namibia is home to diverse cultures and tribes. Be polite and considerate when visiting local communities, and ask for permission before taking photos of people.

Welcome to Namaste Yoga Safari – A Journey of Adventure, Connection, and Mindfulness
I’m Marcel, the heart and soul behind Namaste Yoga Safari. Since 2016, I’ve been crafting unforgettable yoga holidays in some of Africa’s most breathtaking safari destinations. This isn’t just a business - it’s my passion, my journey, and my way of sharing the magic of Africa with you.
A yoga safari is more than just a trip - it’s an experience that invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and immerse yourself in the wild. Imagine sitting quietly with mountain gorillas in the lush forests of Uganda, walking alongside chimpanzees, climbing the towering dunes of Namibia, or watching elephants wander past your safari vehicle. These moments, infused with mindfulness and presence, create a connection that lingers long after the journey ends.
How It All Began
My love for yoga started while sailing and scuba diving across the world. After 15 years of traveling, all roads led me back home to Namibia - to embark on a new adventure: blending my love for nature, movement, and mindful travel. Having worked as a travel consultant, guiding people through Namibia and Southern Africa, I knew I could create something truly special - yoga safaris that offer not just breathtaking landscapes, but deep personal connection and transformation.
Even though my roots are in Ashtanga, my years in nature have shaped my teaching into a more mindful, calming practice - one that blends beautifully with the rhythm of the wilderness. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, my yoga holidays are designed to be welcoming, supportive, and full of adventure. With small groups, every trip is personal, intimate, and tailored to create an unforgettable experience.
Looking forward to welcoming you on an adventure of a lifetime!
