Do you like extraordinary golf courses, remarkable hotels, friendly people, warm weather, phenomenal food (and wine!), and true insider experiences — all without having to do much more than sign up for it and get on a plane?
Then you'll love this eight-day adventure with Asia Golf Trips founder/owner Scott Resch, who has been organizing and guiding small-group trips to great golf destinations since 2007.
On this particular trip, you’ll not only tee it up at five courses in a country that has won World's Best Golf Destination two years in a row, but explore three of its most compelling locales: Lisbon, Comporta and Algarve.
As well, you’ll taste the finest in Portuguese cuisine and hospitality in the form of unrivaled culinary and cultural experiences and unforgettable five-star retreats.
And again, you'll do it all with an in-the-know American by your side and leading the way, so you never wonder where to go, what to do and where to be at what time.
This is PERFECT PORTUGAL with Asia Golf Trips.
NOTE: This is the most direct option (i.e. no layovers) but obviously not the ONLY option.
Get your stay in Portugal's capital started in style — at a luxury boutique hotel that blends a restored 19th-century palace facade with exquisite, contemporary interiors. Located just off fabled Avenida da Liberdade, one of the city’s most elegant thoroughfares, PortoBay Liberdade is the perfect spot from which to explore everything that makes this metropolis magnificent. Here, you'll stay in a spacious suite with elegant living areas that give you more room to unwind and make it easy to relax after a day on the links or wandering old Lisbon's hilly, cobbled streets.
Our first round of golf is about 45 minutes west of Lisbon at Oitavos Dunes, a beautiful Arthur Hills design that made GOLF Magazine's coveted 'World Top 100' list in 2017. Located in a national park on the outskirts of the picturesque seaside town of Cascais and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Oitavos Dunes was the first course in Europe to receive Audubon Gold Certification. Its old-fashioned, out-and-back routing and artful mix of woodland and links-type holes are big reasons why the Portuguese Open has been contested here four times.
Get your first full day going with a bit of an adventure: a guided e-bike ride through the most interesting parts of Lisbon, with several opportunities to sample some traditional Portuguese food and drink along the way. On this private, 3-hour tour, you'll also stop at key landmarks and learn about the city's rich, old-world heritage.
This morning, we'll check out of PortoBay Liberdade and transfer about an hour south to the sleepy beach enclave of Comporta, home to two courses that are rising fast in the international golf rankings: Dunas and Torre. Before teeing off at Torre, we'll check into AlmaLusa Comporta, right in the heart of Comporta and just a 15-minute walk from a beach you won't believe.
Right in the heart of Comporta with views of rice fields and just a short walk from one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, this award-winning luxury boutique hotel invites guests to discover a truly idyllic part of the country. Its renovated buildings harmoniously merge with the local landscape, which are best viewed from the pool or the stylish rooftop bar.
After a short drive down from Lisbon, you'll be ready for your late-morning tee time at Torre, the first — and still only — golf course designed by European Ryder Cup legend and 2017 Masters champion Sergio Garcia. Opened in October 2025, the layout occupies a similar piece of real estate to the next course you'll play, Dunas, but feels a lot different, mainly because there's less separation between holes and a greater variety of views.
This morning you’ll test your skills a Dunas, which won World's Best New Course at the 2023 World Golf Awards. Designed by David McLay Kidd (creator of Bandon Dunes, Gamble Sands, Mammoth Dunes and many other acclaimed tracks), the course is somewhat reminiscent of Pinehurst, in that it weaves through a forest of tall pines situated on miles of sand dunes. It's all nature, no construction. And while you won't see the ocean, you'll hear it.
After golf at Dunas, we'll head 90 minutes south to the Algarve, a region noted for a coastline that is synonymous with dramatic limestone cliffs, turquoise waters and colorful beach towns and fishing villages. Before checking in at our final hotel, we’ll stop somewhere scenic to take down a cocktail while taking in the beauty of one of Europe's great coastal destinations.
The last hotel on the itinerary is a tranquil, five-star lifestyle destination built on a private lake of its own with views of the cosmopolitan Vilamoura marina and skyline and direct access to famed Falesia Beach. Here, you'll stay in a Sapphire Retreat, part of the hotel's exclusive Haute Living Collection of rooms and suites.
Today we'll go just a few minutes down the road and play a course that some say evokes the Olympic Club in San Francisco: Old Course Vilamoura, Algarve’s second oldest track and, thanks to recent renovations, its best. The Frank Pennink creation — which has been called “a symbol of the English school of golf course design” — is always in impeccable condition and its clubhouse, which was recently refurbished as well, is just as tidy.
Finish the trip with a bang by teeing it up arguably the the crown jewel of Portuguese golf. Located near the Spanish board, this Jack Nicklaus Signature Course feels more secluded and serene than many others in the region, with service standards that rival private clubs and a collection of holes that are beautifully sculpted into the rolling hills of Eastern Algarve. It's special.
No trip to Portugal is complete without getting a taste of the country's distinctive wine culture. After golf at Vilamoura Old, we'll head straight to Quinta do Canhoto, a family-run wine estate right in the heart of the Algarve. Expect to receive not only a private vineyard tour, but a food basket with local meats, cheeses and produce to go with a tasting of four wines in QDC's renowned Esquerdino line.
NOTE: Flight itinerary includes 1h 55m layover in Dublin (DUB). If you'd prefer to fly home from LIS, we can arrange a ground transfer back to Lisbon for you. (The drive takes a little over two hours and costs about $700, which can be split up to seven ways. Just depends on how many people choose this option.)
Discover what makes Portugal one of the very best golf destinations in the world with this eight-day luxury experience for just eight adults, max.
Enjoy the comfort of staying in three distinct hotels that blend elegance and Portuguese charm, tee it up at five of the best courses in all of Europe, and indulge in some truly memorable pursuits including a guided e-bike food tasting in Lisbon and a private wine tasting in Comporta.
Your experience ALSO includes:
Welcome dinner at an iconic fado music venue in Lisbon, and farewell dinner at Domes Lake Algarve
All ground transfers in private, comfortable vans or mini-buses
Shared cart at each course
Daily breakfast at each hotel
