My name is David Mebane and I am a lifelong traveler that experienced my first international trip as a 2nd grader, and I haven’t stopped since. I founded Fat Tire Tours in Paris, France in 1999 and love showing people around the City of Light. That passion has grown to include other incredible destinations around the globe, and is the genesis for Kairos Tours. I don't know every destination on the globe, but I do know several well, and I love to take people with me to create experiences and memories that last a lifetime.
I live in Austin, Texas with my wife Kelly and our son Weston and daughter Caroline. However, we spend as much time as we can elsewhere since there is nothing better than an adventure with family and friends.
Paris, often celebrated as the "City of Lights," is a place where every grand boulevard and hidden alleyway reveals centuries of captivating history and artistic brilliance. Its story began over two millennia ago on an island in the Seine River, a settlement founded by the Parisii tribe, which later became the Roman city of Lutetia. From these ancient roots, Paris blossomed into a powerful capital, serving as the heart of the French monarchy and a pivotal stage for world-changing events like the French Revolution, whose echoes of liberty and transformation still resonate through its historic squares.
This magnificent city has long been a global epicenter of creativity, innovation, and intellectual thought. Walk through its grand museums, like the legendary Louvre, where you can marvel at timeless masterpieces that have inspired artists for generations, or explore the breathtaking Notre-Dame Cathedral, a testament to medieval architectural genius. From the Enlightenment philosophers who shaped modern political thought to the Impressionist painters who revolutionized art, Paris has always been a magnet for brilliant minds, fostering an atmosphere where groundbreaking ideas and artistic movements come alive.
Today, Paris remains an unrivaled hub of culture, fashion, and culinary excellence, drawing millions to experience its unique charm. The iconic Eiffel Tower pierces the skyline, a symbol of human ingenuity, while charming cafes invite reflection, and the Seine River gracefully weaves through the city, reflecting its enduring beauty. Paris is more than just a collection of famous landmarks; it's a living, breathing testament to human endeavor, a city where the past gracefully intertwines with a vibrant present, offering an unforgettable journey into the heart of European grandeur.
