Do you like world-class golf courses, distinct hotels, friendly people, incredible food and authentic, insider experiences — all without having to do much more than sign up for it and get on a plane?
Then you'll love this 9-day adventure with Asia Golf Trips founder/owner Scott Resch, a former resident of Vietnam who has been organizing and guiding small-group trips to the world's fastest growing golf destination since 2007.
On this fully guided experience of a lifetime, you’ll tee it up at some of Asia’s very best courses — including links-style gems designed by legends Nick Faldo, Greg Norman and Robert Trent Jones Jr. — and explore two of the world's most fascinating cities: Hanoi and Hoi An.
As well, you’ll taste the finest in Vietnamese cuisine and hospitality in the form of culinary and cultural experiences you'll never forget.
And again, you'll do it all with an in-the-know American by your side and leading the way, so you never wonder where to go, what to do and where to be at what time.
This is ULTIMATE VIETNAM with Asia Golf Trips.
Itinerary includes 2-hour, 45-minute layover in Doha (DOH).
Get your stay in Vietnam's capital started in style. Opened in 1901, the Metropole has long served as the address of choice for royalty, dignitaries and celebrities. And for good reason. The colonial-style retreat right in the heart of downtown blends timeless charm and first-class facilities, and is just a short stroll from many of Hanoi's top attractions, including Hoan Kiem Lake, St. Joseph's Cathedral and the always bustling Old Quarter.
Our first round of golf is at a property only accessible by speed boat from the drop-off point. Don’t let the spaceship-looking clubhouse fool you upon arrival; even though it’s old and odd, the course you’ll play is not. The Nicklaus Course at Kings Island is a parkland-style design that opened in 2019, is always in impeccable condition, and features a 19th hole that plays from on top of a waterfall down to an island green.
Hanoi is recognized as one of the world's most incredible culinary destinations. There's no better way to dig into it than with one of our favorite local tour operators, whose ultra-knowledgable, English-speaking guides will make sure you walk away both happy and full — and with a much deeper understanding of Vietnam and its fascinating culture.

After enjoying a leisurely buffet breakfast at one of the Metropole's four stylish all-day dining venues, check out and transfer 45 minutes by private mini-bus to Hanoi airport for a quick flight to the central coast city of Danang. From there, we'll be whisked 45 minutes south to Hoi An, famous for its heritage-listed old town on the banks of the languid Thu Bon River.
You won’t find a luxury hotel with a better location in Hoi An than this riverside oasis less than half a mile from town center. From your spacious room featuring classic decor and a natural indoor-outdoor flow, you’re just a short walk from everything this perfectly-preserved former trading port has to offer, including all the sidewalk cafes, riverside bars and tailor shops you could shake a (flat) stick at.
This morning, you’ll test your skills at one of Asia's best new courses. Opened in 2020 with six holes that come into direct contact with the golden sands of beautiful Cua Dai Beach, Hoiana Shores is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. tropical links that is often compared to two other modern-day greats: Chambers Bay (near Seattle) and Te Arai (New Zealand).
On our way to our final destination, we'll play a morning round at the world's only Luke Donald design: Ba Na Hills. Conceived in collaboration with IMG, this parkland-style course plays through a dense jungle and around various water hazards fed by the dramatic Annamite Range. It's a challenging track, but it's also downright spectacular.
Few figures in Vietnam are as recognizable as Scott's good friend Duc Tran, who has built a mini restaurant empire out of nothing over the past 20 years. His success story has been told to international media outlets and recounted on TV shows. You’ll get to hear about his unique journey from the privacy of his own home — a multi-structure oasis in the middle of a rice field — as he cooks up a dinner to die for, just for us.
After golf at Ba Na Hills, we'll transfer up the coast to our final destination: Laguna Lang Co, Vietnam's largest integrated luxury resort — and one of GOLF Magazine's ‘Top 100 Golf Resorts in the World.’
The last hotel on the itinerary (unless you return to Saigon) is where you’ll find peace and tranquility in spades. Although it’s got 223 rooms — more than 100 of which come with their own private pools overlooking the South China Sea — and shares the same resort property as another hotel, it’s as off the beaten track as holiday retreats come. In other words, it’s the perfect place from which to take stock in the trip of a lifetime.
The fifth and final course you’ll play, Laguna Golf Lang Co, might just be the best. Designed by Sir Nick Faldo, the jaw-dropper plays over and around working rice paddies, through a landscape of massive boulders and along the shores of the South China Sea. The only problem with this course is you won’t want the round to end. It’s a golf experience unlike any other.
There are 3 ways you can spend your final FULL day in Vietnam: 1) Enjoying the resort, which offers everything from the country’s biggest pool and a pair of award-winning spas to tons of recreational opportunities including jetskiing, ATV'ing, kayaking, etc. 2) Playing golf again 3) Taking a day trip to Hue, about an hour north and site of the monumental Imperial City. Our guide there is Lan, a long-time friend of Scott’s who served as Anthony Bourdain's guide when he visited Hue.
On February 21, you can either fly back to Dublin from Danang (DAD) — the quickest option (20 hours) departs in the afternoon and includes short layovers in Bangkok and Doha — or add on to your trip and explore another part of Vietnam or Asia. If an add-on interests you, talk to Scott — he'd be happy to make arrangements for you at cost plus a small service fee.

Enjoy the comfort of 3 distinct five-star hotels that blend elegance and Vietnamese charm, tee it up at 4 of the best golf courses in all of Asia, and indulge in some truly memorable off-the-course pursuits including a private walking food tour of Hanoi, a private chef's dinner in Hoi An and a private cultural tour in Hue.
