Vari has been teaching students and training yoga teachers internationally for more than 20 years. Through his own study of yoga, Vari was deeply inspired by those who dedicated their lives to a yogic lifestyle in search of an understanding of true consciousness. His teaching talent comes from his ability to encourage students out of their comfort zone. With his warm and energetic personality, Vari inspires students to experience their full inner potential. His teaching philosophy is rooted in the mindful connection to breath regardless of the style of yoga one is practicing. As breath is life, nothing else is possible without it. He is known for his warmth and charisma, powerful energy, effective hands-on adjustments, chanting, and inspirational talks.

I hadn’t taken an RYT200 teacher training before joining V YOGA’s 50HR Intensive, but it turned out to be the perfect program for someone like me—someone without the time for a full RYT200, yet eager to explore yoga more deeply. I initially came expecting to benefit mainly from the physical practice—and I certainly did—but what stayed with me the most, and will remain even if I don’t pursue further intensive training, is the wisdom I received from Vari. Yoga is so much more than just physical movement. Even something as seemingly simple as Samasthitihi taught me what it means to be a yogini. Practicing with Vari was an incredible journey; he guided me toward a stronger version of myself and helped me recognize the strength I already possess. While I don’t see myself becoming a teacher just yet, I truly enjoyed practicing how to lead a modified Ashtanga sequence. It was both challenging and fun. I loved the days spent here: learning, practicing, and soaking in some sunshine on the beach. I will never forget the experience and will definitely coming back.

I recently completed the 50-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Teacher Training with Vari. We learned about the modified primary series, including the Sanskrit names of the asanas and alignments. We also practiced pranayama, meditation, and mantras, and learned how to structure and teach a full hour-long class.

The training was very informative, and Vari is a great teacher who knows how to work with each student at their own level. Additionally, I participated in the adjustments workshop, where I learned how to give precise adjustments.

I really enjoyed practicing with Vari and working with Maria, who was very friendly and made everyone feel comfortable. Overall, I had a positive experience and learned a lot. My yoga practice has definitely improved since taking these classes.

Getting to Koh Phangan from Bangkok

If you are arriving in Bangkok, there are several options to get to Koh Phangan.

  1. Take a direct 1 hour flight to Koh Samui, an island 20 mins ferry ride from Koh Phangan. There are several flights available from Bangkok's International airport, all operated by Bangkok Airways.

  2. Take a direct 1 hour flight to Surat Thani Airport (operated by low-cost carriers). There are options available to depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport or Don Mueang International Airport. Getting to Koh Phangan from Surat Thani Airport is much longer, the average trip is around 4 hours.

  3. There are both busses and trains availble from Bangkok, expect to travel more than 10 hours if you choose this option.

Getting to Koh Phangan from Phuket

If you are arriving in Phuket, there are several options to get to Koh Phangan.

  1. Flight are available either to Surat Thani or Koh Samui Airport.

  2. There is a bus available from Phuket to Bangkok, expect to travel more than 9 hours, including the connecting ferry from Surat Thani to Koh Phangan.

Chaloklum, Koh Phangan

V YOGA Shala is situated in Chaloklum, a small village nested in the ocean in the northern part of Koh Phangan. A unique place with serene beaches, sunsets, where you will find local and international food and experience many activities. There is a market every Sunday where you can try local foods and experience Thai culture. From here you can take a taxi boat to the stunning remote Bottle Beach and hike on the way back or organize a diving trip to Sail Rock.

Chaloklum offer many activities that will make your stay memorable, hiking, cooking classes, paddle boarding, snorkelling, diving!

The area has plenty of local and international restaurants and breakfast places including vegetarian, vegan and raw options – all within a walking distance from V YOGA Shala. Prices range from more affordable local options, averaging around €3 a meal, to more higher-end restaurants. Every Sunday, Chaloklum has an open Thai Market at the pier of the village, where you can enjoy various Thai food dishes, fruits and vegetables. 

Another way to experience different foods during your stay is to order food online through the Delivery Service App on the island!

Who can join our 50HR Intensives?

V YOGA Intensives are for everyone who wants to explore and experience a new way of life - living more yogic. Those who want to learn more about yoga and those who might want to teach. An opportunity to deepen your practice and continue learning.

How long is the 50HR Intensive?

The duration of each intensive is 9 days, with the 5th day off. The course is perfect for short time travellers who cannot take off more than two weeks from their daily schedule.

Do I need prior yoga experience?

No, this Intensive is for all levels, those new to yoga and those who wants to increase their knowledge of yoga. You will be taught modifications and ways to honor and strength your body. Please advise with us for any previous conditions, so we can adjust to your needs accordingly.

Who is leading the Intensives?

All intensives are exclusively lead by Vari Morales. Vari is know as the “Teacher of teachers” and has been leading teacher trainings and teaching internationally for more than 20 years. With his energetic personality, knowledge of modifications with the art of hands-on adjustments, he inspires and teaches students to reach their fullest potential.

Do I need to bring my own yoga mat?

We recommend to bring you own mat, since we hold a workshop on “Customizing you mat”. V YOGA Shala also provides the highest quality Manduka Pro yoga mats which can be used throughout the trainings but cannot be marked during the workshop. You will be taught how to mark your mat so you can customize it yourself.

Why customize my mat?

To see your progress, to prevent injuries or to have proper alignments. During this workshop we learn to customize the mat to your body and flexibility, compared to commercially marked mats. No two bodies are alike. You will learn how to fully utilize your mat!

If I don’t drive a motorbike, can I still get around?

V YOGA Shala is located near the center of a town, not far from many restaurants and points of interest. For faster access, V YOGA Shala has bicycles available for rental.

Is there daycare service on the island if I am coming with my kids?

Yes, Koh Phangan offers a nanny service that our students use when they need daycare for their children. There are also several daycare places nearby the studio as well as various activities for kids.
