This TOUR includes all of the following: 10 days of hotels accommodations, all 9 breakfast, 8 luncheons, 5 dinners, all accompanied with wines & beers, coffee, etc. sometimes aperitifs too,  only 4 evenings will be at your leisure ). Any diets are welcome. Also includes all bus travel, entrance & tickets to daily activities (see activities below). All daily travels (from Friday March 6th to Sunday March 15th) are with a 49 seat Deluxe A/C and Heated Motor Coach, equiped  with a Bathroom.

The airfare from the United States to Paris, the train tickets for Paris to Bordeaux and Bordeaux to Paris, are not included in the price. 

Take the TGV, the Fast Speed Train, for about a couple hours plus from Paris Gare Montparnasse and three hours plus from Charles de Gaulle Roissy Airport, to Bordeaux.

Meet Chef Didier in Bordeaux, at La “Tavern du Midi Restaurant” across from Train Station Gare Saint Jean around 2:30 pm ). La Taverne du Midi - Restaurant in Bordeaux

(If you arrive early, have a bowl of fresh mussels with a Stella Artois or an espresso. I probably will be there myself. If you are late, the bus & I will wait for you.).

Friday, March 6th : The Tour begins

  • Leaving Bordeaux, at 2.30 pm with the bus, going to a 3 star Hotel, in Sarlat-La-Caneda, where we will stay for 3 nights as we visit that area

  • Stop at Les Eyzies to see the Cro-Magnon Man (Les Eyzies-de-Tayac)

  • Stop at La Roque Saint Christophe, an old village 

  • Welcome dinner at a Sarlat Restaurant with a Kir aux Fruits Rouges

  • Back to the Hotel ( across the street from the restaurant )

  • Breakfast at the Hotel in Sarlat 

  • Taking our Deluxe, a/c & heated bus (the same bus for the whole trip, Mr. Abdel, he is wonderful!! ) 

  • Visit of a goose farm and perhaps buying some cans that you would bring back to the States. ( cash or credit cards accepted  )

  • Going to see an oversized topiaries garden, completely redesigned in 1965 and awarded “Remarkable Gardens”  in 2004 “Eyrignac Gardens”

  • Delicious lunch at a local bistrot along the Dordogne River 

  • Visit of Chateau Des Milandes and the life of Josephine Baker

  • Visit of its surrounding Gardens and the many Falcons and Birds of Prey

  • Dinner downtown Sarlat at “Le Mirandol” 

  • Back to the Hotel  in Sarlat

Sunday, March 8th

  • Breakfast at the Hotel in Sarlat

  • Visit of the town of Sarlat, and its market. Many geese are loose in the town, there is a market with music and many stalls with local foods & wines that you can buy a la carte, all local restaurants are open.. There is also a wonderful Cathedral. (Mass at 10:00 am)

  • At 10:00 am, guided tour by a local, to showcase you the best of Sarlat, not to forget a sampling of the “Goose Soup” served at noon in the plaza.

Optional Lunch ( Add : $125 ) is one of a kind lunch, 14 courses “ ALL GOOSE “ dishes served all in a different way. This unique event is celebrated by 1000 people from all over the world. 

  • We will meet up at 6:00 pm at a local Café and exchange eaten delicacies!  Chef is buying local beers! 

  • Back to Hotel in Sarlat at your own time.

  • Breakfast at the Hotel in Sarlat

  • Check out of this Hotel

  • Going to visit the “Lascaux Caves IV”, the most visited cave in the world

  • Lunch at Les Eyzies Restaurant “Laugerie Basse”

  • Going to our 4-star hotel in Perigueux, arriving at 5 pm

  • Hunting & visit of a truffle farm, we will unearth fresh truffles with Loris, the specialized Doggy. Option to bring some truffles back to the States! 

  • Visit of some stores where to buy seeds at Jardiland and beluga caviar lentils at Bio Cop.

  • Stop & shop at a ceramic & porcelain store

  • Going to our hotel in Perigeux for 2 nights. Arrive 6:00 pm

Optional Dinner ( Add $150 ) at a local Restaurant in Perigueux with an “ALL TRUFFLES” dinner

  • Visit of a wonderful, local Duck Farm, from baby duckling to making Foie Gras.

  • Special Duck Cooking class, where all will be explained about the whole parts of the duck are used! 

  • Lunch at a local Farm  with an “ALL DUCK”  menu for Lunch.

  • Visit of the Most beautiful Cathedral in Perigueux, its roof & its spectacular view of Perigueux led by a Guide, Martine, Chef’s Friend

  • Back to the hotel 4:00 pm

  • Afternoon & Dinner at your leisure

  • Checking out from this hotel

  • Visit of the local 3 different farmers market around the Cathedral in Perigeux medieval town

  • Lunch in the old town in Périgueux. Christine is your Guide for the Day

  • Going to Bergerac where Chef was born, so was Cyrano’s de Bergerac, right?

  • Arriving to a wonderful hotel, friends of Chef Didier, in Bergerac old town

  • Dinner at a local Restaurant, another Chef’s friend,  in Bergerac, at “Le BelleVue”

  • Visit of a Pig Farm with an “ALL COCHON “ Lunch 

  • Lecture of the two Cyrano’s De Bergerac Statues by a local guide

  • IVBD (Interprofession of Bergerac and Duras Wines) Educational wine tasting where we will understand more of any wine making. 

  • IVBD 1 Rue des Récollets, 24100 Bergerac 

  • Back to the Hotel in Bergerac 

  • Class on Foie Gras, that Chef will lead

  • Dinner at your leisure in Bergerac

  • Visit of the Essayist from the sixteenth century, Michel de Montaigne, his home and his history led by a local guide

  • Visit of the winery & the vineyard, plus degustation of the wines of Chateau Sarthes led by oenophile wine maker Mr Daniel Hecquet (Red, Rose & Blanc are available at all Binny's)

  • Lunch prepared by Mrs Catherine  Hecquet

  • Visit of underground Saint Emilion, its collegiate church and its cloister 

  • Going to a 4-star hotel in Bordeaux for two nights, close to the train station so we can go back to Paris on Sunday easily, or just stay in town

  • Evening at your leisure

  • Back to the hotel

  • Lunch at “Les Baccalans” across from Cite du vin. 

  • Visit of Bordeaux, La Cite du Vin, on the banks of the Garonne River

  • Return to Hotel 

  • Dinner in Bordeaux Brasserie with Memoir of this TOUR

  • Back to Hotel in Bordeaux

  • Breakfast at the Hotel in Bordeaux. End of the TOUR 

  • Morning at your leisure, again we are two blocks away from the train station, so you can easily walk from the hotel to take the TGV Train to Paris 

  • ( There is a lot to visit in Bordeaux, let Chef know if you need some information about staying a bit longer in Bordeaux, at your own time ).
