Days 2-4

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park spans an undulating area of 2,850 km² (1,100 mi²) and is easily accessible via a few-hour drive from Arusha. Famous for its giant baobabs, savannahs with scattered termite mounds, and large elephant herds, this underrated park is dominated by the perennial Tarangire River.

In the middle of the park, the Silale swamp becomes the main source of water and attracts elephants and predators as the season gets drier and drier. There is a healthy lion population, and the other predators are often spotted trailing the plains game as they head to water, or occasionally the cats can be spotted lounging in sausage trees.

The luxury lodge is among the newest in Tarangire, featuring luxury cottages that overlook the Randilen Wildlife Management Area and are just 40 minutes from the national park entrance gate.

The region also serves as an important wildlife corridor, particularly for elephant herds, between Manyara National Park and Tarangire National Park.

The sister company to the lodge also owns several well-respected luxury accommodations in Uganda, including Elephant Plains Lodge and Primate Lodge Kibale.

Day 4-7

Central Serengeti
Day 4-7 image

North of the southern grasslands lies the central part of the Serengeti, a beautiful area with wide open plains as far as the eye can see, dotted with small granite kopjes and seasonal rivers. The area is full of resident game and one of the highest densities of cats, especially lions, to be found anywhere in Africa. The eastern part of the central Serengeti was actually closed to tourists until just a few years ago and originally used as a cheetah research base. This stunning landscape of kopjes and grasslands is renowned for its exceptional big cat sightings, particularly cheetahs.

The Serengeti is perhaps the most famous African wilderness area, its name synonymous with the notion of safari for nearly a hundred years. This UNESCO World Heritage site covers 14,750 km2 (5,700 mi2) of premiere game viewing in Acacia woodlands, open grasslands, and undulating savannahs interspersed with seasonal rivers. The park on the northern side borders the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya and, together with several other smaller reserves and conservation areas, forms the larger Mara-Serengeti ecosystem.

Standard Luxury Tent

Guest tents are comfortable and spacious, providing 45 square meters (450 square feet approx.) of living space. The beds can be set up as doubles or twins, and three of the tents can be set up as triples. The wood-paneled bathrooms have "his" and "her" wash hand basins, rain showers, and separate toilets. A constant supply of both hot and cold water is available for guests' use throughout the night and day. The entire camp enjoys 24 hours of electricity generated primarily through solar panels, but with a standby generator available for use as and when required.

Located in the heart of the Serengeti National Park, this camp offers exclusive access to the abundance of wildlife in the area. Listen to the quiet brilliance of nature surrounding you as you lounge in camp chairs outside your tent, or venture to capture sightings of the wildlife and numerous bird species in the park.

The camp's ten exclusive luxury canvas tents, one of which is a family tent, have been carefully designed to provide guests with the optimal glamping experience. The dining area, lounge tent, and veranda offer panoramic views of the Serengeti.

Guests can enjoy the endless African sky in a tranquil setting, with a fine whisky or cocktail in hand, or take a game drive in the camp's own game safari vehicle and try to spot a lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, or black rhino.

Nearby places of interest are the famous Hippo Pool, the Serengeti Research Centre, and the departure point for balloon safaris. The migration passes near the camp twice a year and is never more than a 2.5-hour game drive away for spectacular viewing.

Day 5 - 6

Hot Air Balloon
Day 5 - 6 image

A balloon flight over the Serengeti is widely considered a bucketlist activity that offers a serene and spectacular experience floating over the vast, lush, and game filled plains.

A lift off at dawn means you watch the sun rise as you head in a generally western direction. Flights usually last close to an hour, and depending on the take-off spot, you float over riverine woodlands, watching hippos return to their daytime refuges and crocodiles basking on sandbanks. Sometimes predators and large antelope herds can be spotted below, pointed out by your experienced captain.

After the flight, you will be met by the trailing transfer vehicles and taken to a pre-prepared picnic breakfast, beautifully set up in an idyllic spot on the plains.
