The West course was re-routed by the great golf course architect, Alister Mackenzie in 1926, and is a combination of great design and construction. It is full of dramatic undulation, fertile sandy soil and a natural rugged appearance. West Course highlights include bold bunkering while the rough areas around the tees and bunkers are a mix of native grasses which naturally frame each hole, providing great definition and contrast. The greens are brilliant and for decades have consistently provided the finest putting surfaces in Australia.

The scenery at Cape Wickham is spectacular and architect Mike DeVries has balanced the routing to include a great variety of holes and a great variety of landforms and views. The course also includes a number of wonderful inland holes and there are constant directional shifts, par threes and par fives playing to all points on the compass and visits away from the ocean that are deliberately organised to give the golfer’s senses a rest. After your round at Cape Wickham, you'll be transferred to the Ocean Dunes Hotel.
