Day 1 - Baja Arrival & the Mountain Ranch

The expedition begins as we greet you at SJD Cabo Airport and guide you deep into the Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere Reserve, where rugged wilderness and living culture meet.

Here, at one of the oldest working ranches in all of Baja, you’ll spend three unforgettable days immersed in the timeless rhythms of mountain life——hand-hewn traditions and crafts, organic meals gathered from the land, and the rich tapestry of native flora and fauna. Every moment invites your lens to capture a living story of heritage and wild beauty.

Breakfast & Mountain Drive: After a relaxed breakfast, travel inland to the historic San Javier Mission, founded in 1758 during the colonial era of New Spain.

Late Morning
Mission & History Tour: Explore the beautifully preserved stone church and learn how missionaries sought to convert the local Cochimí people. On the mission grounds stands a 400-year-old olive tree—a living testament to the area’s rich agricultural past.

Afternoon
Traditional Mexican Lunch: Savor an authentic Mexican lunch courtesy of Panterra
Return to Loreto: Head back to the coast for a leisurely afternoon.

Trail Ride to La Pingüica: Saddle up and journey into the desert landscape on muleback, following ancient trails to the remarkable La Pingüica cave paintings. Photograph both pictographs and petroglyphs—timeless expressions of the peninsula’s earliest inhabitants.

Afternoon
Desert Lunch: Enjoy a rustic lunch in the heart of the desert, surrounded by sweeping landscapes.

Return to Loreto: Arrive back at the hotel in the early evening.

Early Morning
Blue Whale Expedition: Early morning, head out onto the open sea in search of the legendary blue whale—the largest animal on Earth. Each year from December to April, these ocean giants return to the calm, protected waters of Loreto Bay National Park to feed, calve, and mate. The peak season, from late January through March, offers your best chance to witness and photograph this awe-inspiring migration.

Midday
Wildlife Encounters: As you scan the horizon for the telltale spout of a blue whale, the bay reveals its richness—other whale species, playful dolphins, barking sea ions, soaring seabirds, and five dramatic islands that shelter a remarkable diversity of life, including several endangered species. Every sighting offers a new subject for your lens.

Afternoon
Return to Loreto: Arrive back in the mid-afternoon with time to recharge, reflect, and capture any last images of this seaside town as your journey winds down.

Evening
Farewell Dinner: Gather one last time with your fellow travelers for a celebratory dinner. Share your favorite photos, trade stories, and toast to the unforgettable moments that Baja California Sur has given you.

Late Morning
Hotel Checkout: Check out at 11:30 am. From here, our driver will take you to the Loreto Airport for your departure home or you may choose to stay on and continue he adventure at your leisure.

Farewell
Adiós to Baja: This is where we part ways. Carry with you the spirit of Baja—its rugged mountains, turquoise seas, timeless stories, and star-filled skies—until they call you back again.
