This is our signature Tanzania & Zanzibar Motorcycle Tour: a seamless mix of off-road adventure, culture, wildlife, and island calm—crafted for riders who crave the full sweep of Tanzania’s landscapes.
Begin in Arusha and trace northern Tanzania’s most iconic ADV terrain—volcanic plains, wildlife corridors, and red-dust horizons. Cross into the dramatic landscapes of Lake Natron and the bustling village of Mto wa Mbu before swapping bikes for a 4x4 safari in Tarangire National Park
Then climb through the foothills of West Kilimanjaro, skirt Arusha National Park, and drop into Enduimet Wildlife Management Area's untamed wilderness. Ride on to cool off in Chemka (Kikuletwa) Hot Springs near Arusha.
End the journey in Zanzibar—wander the spice-scented alleys of Stone Town, cruise the palm-lined coast of Jambiani on Classic Royal Enfield 350s, and unwind by the Indian Ocean.
Difficulty Level: This tour is best for intermediate riders. You should have some experience on varying types of off-road terrain.

Our base in Arusha will be a welcoming safari lodge known for its lively atmosphere and warm hospitality
Riding through Arusha town to Napuru Waterfalls blends a dash of urban buzz with a taste of wild mountain beauty. You’ll weave out of the city traffic, past markets and coffee estates on the lower slopes of Mount Meru, before the pavement gives way to winding dirt tracks shaded by thick forest. The air cools as you climb, and the sound of the waterfall grows louder long before you see it.
At Napuru, the bikes are parked and the pace slows—a short hike leads down to the base of the falls, where mist hangs in the air and the view opens into a lush green canyon. It’s a refreshing break from the ride, an easy mix of adrenaline and calm, and one of Arusha’s hidden gems tucked just beyond the city’s edge.

Today's ride from Arusha to Mungu Crater and on to Mto wa Mbu captures northern Tanzania’s full spectrum in a single day—lush foothills, volcanic backroads, and the vast sweep of the Rift Valley. Leaving Arusha, you climb toward the slopes of Mount Meru before veering onto dirt tracks that snake through villages and open farmland toward Mungu Crater, an enormous, hidden caldera surrounded by rolling highlands.
From there, the route drops dramatically toward the valley floor, with panoramic views of Lake Manyara shimmering in the distance. The descent into Mto wa Mbu is pure joy—fast, flowing roads lined with acacias and the occasional Maasai herder guiding cattle home. By the time you reach town, the air is warm, the streets are alive, and the contrast from morning to evening feels like crossing entire worlds in a single ride.

A full-day game drive in Tarangire National Park delivers the quintessential African safari—towering baobabs, golden savannahs, and some of the highest concentrations of wildlife outside the Serengeti. Setting out early in your 4x4, you’ll wind along dusty tracks flanked by ancient trees and herds of elephants grazing near the Tarangire River. Lions lounge in the shade, giraffes stride through the acacias, and elephants scatter across the plains while lilac-breasted rollers flash through the air.
By midday, you’ll pause at Tarangire Safari Lodge, perched on a bluff overlooking the river valley. It’s one of the most spectacular lunch settings in Tanzania—cold drink in hand, panoramic views rolling out before you, elephants crossing far below. Afterward, continue exploring the park’s quieter corners, where leopards nap in sausage trees and the late-afternoon light sets the grasslands ablaze. This is Tarangire at its finest—wild, unhurried, and timeless.

The ride from Mto wa Mbu to Lake Natron is a wild transition from lush farmland to one of Tanzania’s most surreal desert landscapes. You’ll roll out of the green escarpment at the base of the Rift Valley, passing through banana groves, Maasai villages, and open plains dotted with acacia trees. The tarmac soon fades to dirt, and the adventure begins—corrugated tracks, volcanic dust, and sweeping views that stretch to infinity.
As you descend into the Natron basin, the world changes color—deep reds, silvers, and salt-whites under a blazing African sky. The massive form of Ol Doinyo Lengai, the “Mountain of God,” looms ahead, signaling your approach to the shimmering shores of Lake Natron. Flamingos gather in the shallows, waterfalls tumble down black lava cliffs, and the silence of the valley feels otherworldly. It is one of the most iconic ADV stretches in East Africa—remote, elemental, and unforgettable.

The ride from Lake Natron to West Kilimanjaro via Longido is one of northern Tanzania’s most rewarding ADV routes—remote, raw, and endlessly scenic. Leaving the alkaline flats and crimson cliffs of Natron, the track climbs out of the Rift Valley, winding past Maasai villages and open acacia plains where giraffes and zebras often roam freely. The terrain shifts from rugged volcanic rock to fast gravel stretches, tracing the Kenyan border as Mount Longido rises on the horizon.
As you approach West Kilimanjaro, the landscape softens—grasslands give way to cool highland air and sweeping views of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro. It’s a full day’s ride of pure immersion: red dust, wide horizons, and a feeling of absolute freedom that defines the best of Tanzania’s backcountry.

iRideArusha started as a dream between the two of us. I’m Kevin, originally from Chicago, where riding motorcycles gave me a sense of freedom and connection that shaped my early twenties. My wife, Sylvia, grew up in Tanzania and has always carried a deep love for this country—its people, landscapes, and traditions. Together, we decided to move here with the vision of sharing Tanzania in a way that felt real and adventurous.
That vision became iRideArusha.com. What began as our passion project has grown into tours, rentals, and riding experiences that let travelers discover Tanzania far beyond the typical safari. Every itinerary blends my love for adventure with Sylvia’s knowledge of the land and culture, creating journeys that are as much about connection as they are about riding. For us, it’s not just about motorcycles—it’s about opening the door to freedom, wonder, and the spirit of Tanzania.
