Argentina's Cultural and Natural Wonders

January 9-18, 2027
Argentina's Cultural and Natural Wonders image

Don't Cry for Us, Argentina

Eva Perón famously sang about never leaving Argentina, and after ten days exploring this extraordinary country, you'll understand why. From the sophisticated streets of Buenos Aires where Evita once captivated a nation, to hidden mountain valleys where women winemakers craft world-class wines at breathtaking altitudes, Argentina offers the kind of journey that stays in your imagination.

You’ll dive deep into the best cultural experiences of this fascinating country. You'll cook traditional recipes with mountain women in the Andes, learn the secrets of tango from a local dancer, ride horses gaucho-style, and explore pre-Hispanic archaeological sites where giant cacti stand sentinel over ancient terraces. Along the way, you'll meet remarkable Argentine women—artists, winemakers, ceramicists, and entrepreneurs—who are shaping their communities and redefining tradition.

We have easy, interest-free payment options.

Argentina stretches from subtropical wetlands to Patagonian glaciers. The Chile-Argentina border is among the most geographically dramatic and diverse and includes the highest mountains and volcanoes in both Western and Southern Hemispheres.. but our journey focuses on the country's heart: cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, the legendary vineyards of Mendoza, and the high-altitude valleys of the northwest where the Andes create their own microclimate. Think dramatic landscapes, intimate cultural encounters, and wines you've never tasted anywhere else. Welcome to Argentina—where every day brings a new discovery.

Please note that this is a sample itinerary. Accommodations and activities may change but we will always replace them with something of equal or better value.

5 Reasons We Love This Trip

1. Authentic Cultural Exchanges You Can't Arrange on Your Own

Our connections open doors that remain closed to most travelers. Cook with mountain women in a high-altitude valley near Mendoza, learning regional recipes passed down through generations. Work alongside a ceramic artist in Payogasta, discovering pre-Hispanic traditions. Visit a Mendoza artist's atelier to see how she transforms local light into art. These aren't staged performances—they're genuine encounters with women who welcome you into their creative worlds and share their stories.

2. Landscapes That Take Your Breath Away

The scenery shifts daily, from the sophisticated boulevards of Buenos Aires to the Andes foothills where giant cardón cacti tower overhead. Drive Ruta 40—Argentina's legendary 3,200-mile highway—through the Quebrada de las Flechas, where rock formations seem to defy physics. Explore the multicolored Quebrada de las Conchas, carved by wind and water into otherworldly shapes. At these altitudes, the light is different, sharper, painting everything in colors you'll want to remember forever.

3. World-Class Wine with Women Leading the Way

Argentina is among the top-10 wine producing countries in the world, with Mendoza the most extensive region in South America. The wineries in the Salta region are the world leader in high-altitude wines. In both these areas, you'll taste exceptional wines and meet the women crafting them.

4. Hands-On Adventures from Tango to Horseback Riding

This trip balances cultural immersion with active experiences. Learn tango fundamentals from a local dancer before watching a professional show. Ride horses gaucho-style at a traditional finca. Help prepare an authentic Argentine asado over an open fire. Walk through agricultural fields and climb into the hills to explore archaeological sites.

5. Small Colonial Towns Where Time Moves Differently

Cachi and Cafayate offer something rare: authenticity without pretension. Walk cobblestone streets lined with adobe houses, explore artisan markets in centuries-old towns, and dine in colonial courtyards under brilliant stars. Sip wine at sunset while three generations of women winemakers share their family's story. Wander the plaza in Cafayate and choose your own local restaurant for dinner. This is Argentina at its most genuine, unhurried, and welcoming.

Meet Your Trip Leader: Jeannie Ralston

The last time NextTribe founder Jeannie Ralston was in Buenos Aires, she had planned to take a tango class. But once her then-10-year-old son saw a couple doing a sexy tango in a plaza, he said, “Mom, you can’t do that with another man!” So, not to run afoul of her son’s morality, she never indulged. But on this trip, she made sure a tango lesson was scheduled. She’s also thrilled to take travelers to the wine district of Mendoza and the Argentinian Andes.
