Best Travel Options to Manaus: Destination is Manaus Amazonas Airport (MAO). Best path is often through Panama. United Airlines and Copa Airlines are recommended. Avoid Delta/GOL flights through Sao Paulo due to added travel time and complexity.

Safety & Bugs

Safety in the Amazon

We take your safety very seriously. We understand the risks and manage them to the best of our abilities. We have been a Safe Travel Partner with Global Rescue since 2016, and in 11 years of operation have only contacted them once with a phone consultation for a customer who wasn’t feeling well. Beyond that phone call, we have never had to evacuate a guest.

Bugs and Insects

The truth is we have very few biting or stinging insects in our fisheries. Guests don’t believe this until they arrive and see it for themselves, but we have no mosquitoes in our fisheries. It is the jungle, so there are certainly bugs here, but it is nothing like a day of fishing in Alaska.

Medical Evacuation

Nomadic Waters has been a Safe Travel Partner with Global Rescue since 2016. Medical evacuation coverage is not required but highly recommended. More details at partner.globalrescue.com/nomadicwaters/index.html.

Lodging & Accomodations

Floating Lodge

Deluxe double-occupancy cabins at our floating lodge with A/C, private bath and shower. Exceptional cuisine and cocktails, and an incredible staff make this an extraordinary experience. The Lodge is centrally located on our waters, to allow access to the best fishing available.

There are two main goals for the selection of this property. The Lodge provides a sizeable upgrade from floating cabins: larger rooms, larger bathrooms, more storage area. The second goal is to have a structure large enough to comfortably hold larger groups. We upgraded our kitchen and support areas significantly, and can now hold a large amount of supplies in case of emergencies for our other camps. This is our logistical headquarters.

The Lodge comfortably holds up to 16 anglers, double occupancy, and single occupancy pricing is available.

There is so much access to pristine fishing here that we could never fish it all, even at full capacity. We will continue our program of resting waters that we have fished throughout the season, keeping it as wild and pristine as possible.

River Specific

Rio da Lua

This remarkable private fishery is exclusive to Nomadic Waters during our season.  If you are looking for consistent shots at huge Timensis peacock bass, this is the location for you. Our guests lose count of how many peacock bass they land between 65 cm and 75 cm each trip.

Characterized by small water, this river connects to countless lakes and lagoons that all hold large paca, three bar acu, butterfly, and popoca peacock bass.  Guests hook into 20-pound acu almost every week, and these are the largest butterfly peacock bass we have ever seen.

If you are an explorer at heart, you will be blown away by this experience as we cut our way into new lagoons every week.

Group Size: 8 - 16 Guests, double occupancy.

What makes this location special? Three words: Consistent, clear water.  The Rio da Lua has extremely consistent flows and runs clear.  This makes for the perfect environment for our fish to grow fat and happy, and to spawn multiple times per season guaranteeing a well-balanced population of species.
