Step back in time where an ancient hamlet in the Val d’Orcia (Southern Tuscany) is your home for the week, still inhabited by the fifth generation of a noble family. The hamlet, located in Cetona, 29 km from Montepulciano, is steeped in Etruscan history as are the artfully mastered creations you will make in the on-site workshops. It’s the perfect setting for this creative journey rooted in ancient traditions where you will learn block printing, jewelry making, watercolor painting, and maiolica tile painting.
In addition to the workshops, you will explore the nearby towns of Pienza, Montepulciano and Sarteano and meet some of the artisans in their own workshops.
This is not just a place to stay, it’s a place to belong. The entire hamlet is yours to explore. When you walk the grounds, you trace the footsteps of Etruscan artisans, medieval knights, noble families, and farmers who shaped the land for centuries.
You will be picked up from the Chianciano train station and driven to the villa, where your creative retreat begins. Upon arrival, you will meet the others in your group, sharing smiles and excitement as you settle in. To kick off your experience, enjoy the region’s exquisite wine and artisanal cheese during a delightful welcome reception at the villa. This is a perfect opportunity to mingle and make new friends. Following the reception, you will receive an engaging overview of the retreat, setting the stage for the memorable days ahead. To end the evening, indulge in a delicious dinner in the villa, featuring local flavors that will tantalize your taste buds.

On this day, the workshops include a cooking class and a tile painting class.
In the cooking class, each group will collaborate to prepare a delicious meal for all retreat guests, crafting pastas, sauces, and desserts.
During the tile painting workshop, participants will paint their own maiolica tile while learning about the rich history of this artistic tradition. The tiles will be fired and returned to you on Friday as a cherished souvenir.
In the evening, before dinner, enjoy a unique mixology class where you'll learn to make traditional Italian cocktails.
Dinner will be served at the hamlet.
