The square comes alive around us, with melodies from dueling musicians weaving through the air and children laughing as they chase flocks of pigeons. Rome’s most famous fountain, the Trevi, is a Baroque masterpiece completed in 1762 by architect Nicola Salvi and adorned with sculptures symbolizing the taming of water. Tradition calls for tossing “three coins in the fountain”—a ritual said to ensure a return to Rome, spark a new romance, and bring about good fortune. Private Guided Tour: Meet Ludovica

Buongiorno, everyone! My name is Ludovica, I am an archaeologist and a licensed Tourist Guide for Campania Region. I am proudly Neapolitan! I grew up in Naples with a burning passion for archaeology, history and the natural beauties of my city and its surrounding region. After years of working in archaeological excavations, my need to share what I discovered finally won... and I have been a full-time guide since 2009. Welcome to the spirit and history of my magical land!

The Ruins of Pompeii

Pompeii was first occupied in the 8th century BC. A local guide will explain how the Etruscans first dominated the surrounding region, followed by the Saminites who turned Pompeii into a Greek town. Finally the Romans gained control over Pompeii until its end, that fateful day in 79 AD when Mt. Vesuvius unleashed its fury on the 20,000 inhabitants of this thriving Roman city. Although this tragic event ended the lives of 20,000 Pompeian residents, the ash that buried the town served as a sort of mummification for the entire city. Under the ash everything remained as it was at the time of the eruption: Artwork was preserved. Buildings were preserved. Several important clues were left behind. These clues give us a glimpse into the past and capture a special moment in time...

Emerald Grotto

Our small group will disembark to explore the enchanting “Grotto Smeraldo,” or Emerald Grotto, a natural cave carved into the Amalfi Coast’s rugged cliffs. Inside, a smaller boat will guide us through the grotto’s serene waters. As sunlight filters through an underwater opening, it transforms the water into a mesmerizing display of emerald-blue light, a phenomenon first discovered by local fishermen in the 1930s. This magical experience offers a unique glimpse into the natural wonders of the Mediterranean Sea...

Pranzo! (Lunch)

We’ll dine like the locals at a hidden, family-run restaurant accessible only by private boat, a tradition rooted in the Amalfi Coast’s centuries-old maritime culture. Our larger boat will anchor offshore, and smaller boats will ferry us to this secluded gem. Known for its fresh, local seafood and offerings from both land and sea, the restaurant is a favorite among local fishermen but remains a well-kept secret from most tourists. This authentic dining experience will be a true highlight of our day.

The City of Amalfi

After lunch, our small group will boat to the historic City of Amalfi, a medieval seaside village that was once a powerful maritime republic in the 10th and 11th centuries. Here, you’ll have free time to explore its picturesque streets and visit the stunning Amalfi Cathedral, built in the 9th century and serving as the final resting place of the Apostle Saint Andrew. Stroll through quaint shops, relax at a cozy café, or savor a creamy gelato as you soak in the timeless beauty of this coastal gem.

Let's celebrate our final evening with a true taste of Naples, the birthplace of authentic pizza. The world’s first pizzeria, which opened its doors here, remains a testament to the city’s culinary heritage. We’ll enjoy Pizza Margherita, a masterpiece of Neapolitan simplicity made with fresh San Marzano tomatoes, fragrant basil, and creamy mozzarella di bufala atop perfectly charred dough. Its vibrant red, white, and green colors honor the Italian flag. “Travel does what good novelists also do to the life of the everyday, placing it like a picture in a frame or a gem in its setting, so that the intrinsic qualities are made more clear. Travel does this with the very stuff that everyday life is made of, giving to it the sharp contour and meaning of art.”

Once Upon a Time...

Once upon a time, a small group of friends embarked on the journey of a lifetime through the enchanting country of Italy. Their adventure began in the romantic city of Venice, where they floated along the serene canals, mesmerized by the beauty of the historic buildings and graceful gondolas.

From Venice, they made their way to the artistic haven of Florence, where they wandered through the cobblestone streets lined with Renaissance masterpieces. The friends marveled at the intricate details of Michelangelo's David and were spellbound by the stunning views of the Duomo.

Continuing their voyage, the group ventured to the eternal city of Rome, where they immersed themselves in the rich history and vibrant culture. They tossed coins into the Trevi Fountain, explored the ancient ruins of the Colosseum, and indulged in delicious gelato while basking in the glow of the Roman sunset.

Next, they traveled to the picturesque coastal town of Positano, where pastel-colored buildings cascaded down the cliffs to meet the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean Sea. The friends soaked up the sun on the pebbled beaches, sipped on limoncello, and savored fresh seafood dishes overlooking the breathtaking views.

Their final stop was the bustling city of Naples, known for its lively atmosphere and mouthwatering pizza. They strolled through the vibrant streets, visited the archaeological wonders of Pompeii, and reveled in the warm hospitality of the locals.

As their journey came to an end, the small group of friends gathered one last time to reminisce about their unforgettable experiences, cherishing the memories they had created together in the beautiful and diverse landscapes of Italy. And as they bid farewell to this magical country, they knew that their bond would continue by the shared moments of joy, laughter, and exploration that had defined their dreamy adventure.
