I am excited to host this UK Golf Guy trip to Australia, a destination I know well and one that remains a personal favourite. Australia offers an incredible blend of world-class golf, spectacular landscapes, and a relaxed, welcoming culture that makes it a joy to travel and play here.
This itinerary showcases some of the very best golf the country has to offer, from the legendary Sandbelt courses of Melbourne to the remote, dramatic links of King Island and Tasmania.
I am particularly excited to include the newly opened 7 Mile Beach, which is already generating huge interest and adds something new for me, and other returning visitors, to the trip.
For those who want to extend the experience, there is also an optional add-on featuring three additional outstanding Melbourne courses. If you do join for that section then no fewer than seven of the courses we will play feature in World Top 100 rankings!
UK Golf Guy trips are not just about great golf, but also about the people. These tours are a fantastic way to meet like-minded golfers, and this group will be a mix of returning faces and new guests, which always makes for a great atmosphere. I am really looking forward to sharing this special trip and some of my favourite courses with you.
On arrival you should take a taxi to the Lanhgam Hotel - around 30 minutes from the International Airport.
The Langham, Melbourne delivers classic 5-star luxury along the Southbank Promenade, overlooking the Yarra River. This iconic property blends timeless elegance with impeccable service in spacious rooms featuring marble bathrooms, plush bedding, and river or city views.

We will have a group dinner tonight to all meet up ahead of the adventure to come!
Peninsula Kingswood North, in Frankston on Melbourne's Mornington Peninsula, is a premier Sandbelt layout elevated to elite status through a major 2018 redesign by OCCM (Geoff Ogilvy, Mike Clayton, Mike Cocking, and Ashley Mead). Built on undulating sandy terrain with roots in Sloan Morpeth's 1960s design, it delivers firm, fast conditions, dramatic elevation changes, strategic bunkering, and irregular, true-running greens.
The course offers fantastic variety - interesting doglegs, challenges that reward precise positioning and creativity. The conditioning here is always fantastic, the practice facilities are among the very best you will find anywhere in the world and the clubhouse is fantastic. A very worthy addition to any sandbelt itinerary.
Cape Wickham Golf Links on remote King Island delivers one of the most spectacular coastal golf experiences in the world. Designed by Mike DeVries with Darius Oliver, this 2015 masterpiece hugs the rugged northwest coast of Tasmania, offering ocean views from every hole, dramatic cliffs, and eight holes directly along Bass Strait.
The routing flows brilliantly across sandy dunes and open terrain, blending strategic links play with breathtaking scenery — including the iconic Cape Wickham Lighthouse as a constant backdrop. Firm, fast conditions encourage creative ground game, while the natural landscape creates thrilling, memorable holes without a weak one in sight.
It is pure, exhilarating golf in an unforgettable island setting — a true world-class destination.
When you stay at The Lodges at Cape Wickham it feels like you're staying at the end of the world! These 16 villa-style rooms sit right beside the course - just a 2 minute walk from the first tee.
Every window and private deck has sweeping views across the golf course, the ocean, and towards the iconic Cape Wickham Lighthouse.
The accommodation is comfortable and practical, featuring ensuites, air conditioning and modern amenities.
Ocean Dunes on King Island delivers a strong modern links experience along 2km of rugged Tasmanian coastline. Designed by Graeme Grant and opened in 2015, the course works through rolling dunes with consistent ocean views, several coastal holes, and classic links elements - including notable par-3s like the short 4th and long 10th playing across rocky inlets.
Six holes run close to the ocean, combining strategic design with natural scenery, firm fescue fairways, and smooth bent grass greens. It's a spectacular place to play golf and well worth a visit if you are on King Island to play Cape Wickham.
Lost Farm Lodge is the on-site hotel accommodation at Barnbougle, set above the Lost Farm course with direct access to the golf, pro shop, spa and dining facilities. Rooms are comfortable and well sized, with practical touches including on-site laundry and dedicated golf club storage.
A short stroll from the Lost Farm Restaurant and Sports Bar, the lodge places guests at the heart of the Barnbougle experience on Tasmania’s northeast coast.
We'll have dinner tonight in the Lost Farm Restaurant - perched atop a coastal dune with spectacular views of the course and coastline.
Barnbougle Lost Farm, opened in 2010, is Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw's excellent companion to the Dunes next door. Routed along the Bass Strait coastline, it features wide, tumbling fairways through massive dunes, creative short grass chipping areas, and a natural, minimalist design that feels perfectly at home in the landscape.
The course shines with exceptional variety — dramatic ocean holes, clever bunkering, and memorable greens that reward imaginative play.
The debate will no doubt ensure after your visit as to which course at Barnbougle your group prefers. Both are world class and you are in for a real treat!
Set atop the dramatic sand dunes behind Lost Farm, Bougle Run, is the 14-hole short course at Barnbougle.
Designed by internationally acclaimed Golf Architect Bill Coore, Bougle Run’s 14 holes consist of 12 par-3’s and two par 4’s which sit on the tall, undulating coastal dunes between Lost Farm’s front and back 9.
The route, which includes some of the highest points of the entire Barnbougle complex, is set slightly back from the coastline, providing aerial-like views over the Lost Farm Course and Anderson’s Bay.
A fun, challenging addition to Barnbougle’s two world top 100 courses, Bougle Run is designed for golfers of all abilities and the perfect option to sate your golf appetite in just 90 minutes.
We'll have another group dinner tonight at the Dunes Clubhouse.
Barnbougle Dunes on Tasmania's north coast is a modern links masterpiece by Tom Doak and Michael Clayton.
Routed through towering dunes along the Bass Strait, it delivers authentic seaside golf with creative bunkering and a collection of standout holes - including the world-class par-3 7th (Tom's Little Devil) that ranks among the best short par 3s anywhere in the world.
The routing flows naturally through the landscape, blending strategic challenges with breathtaking ocean views. Doak uses the land fantastically, meaning that there are many ways to get to the pin on every hole, you just have to find them!
The Crowne Plaza Hobart is a contemporary 4-star upscale hotel located in the heart of Hobart's CBD. Opened in 2020, it is situated directly above the Myer shopping complex, making it one of the city's most centrally located and accessible stays.
Enjoy modern rooms designed for relaxation when you stay with us. Each room features luxurious bedding, aromatherapy-infused bath products, and views of Hobart’s scenic landscapes, from the harbour, Mount Wellington, and to the bustling city streets.
There are plenty of dining options in Hobart. For those who would like to join, we will organise a group meal (not included in trip cost).
The 7 Mile Beach Golf Course in Tasmania opened in late 2025. It was a widely anticipated opening throughout the world and one of the hottest opening in the southern hemisphere for many decades. Designed by Mike DeVries, Mike Clayton, and Frank Pont, this course embraces the natural dunes and coastal landscape and will offer a pure links experience.
This is set to be an exciting addition to Tasmania’s already impressive golf scene!
We will check back into The Langham for the remainder of our stay.
The Furrows opened for play in April 2023, transforming a 20-acre parcel on Kingston Heath’s eastern boundary into a classic Sandbelt short course. Designed by OCM (Ogilvy Cocking Mead), the course features nine holes ranging from 50-140 metres, each demanding precision whilst providing accessible paths for players of all abilities.
The design philosophy emphasises strategic variety over predictability. Each hole offers 4-5 different ways to play it, with the ground game receiving particular emphasis. The short grass extends all the way back to many tees, so on some holes you could just as easily grab a putter and roll it along the ground.
Kingston Heath stands as one of the world's premier courses and a Sandbelt masterpiece. It's a 1925 design by Dan Soutar enhanced by Alister MacKenzie's legendary bunkering. Built on a small site with relatively flat terrain, it proves great golf thrives through strategic genius rather than dramatic elevation.
The course dazzles with impeccable firm-and-fast conditions, seamless sandy wastes blending into native heath grasses, and some of the finest bunkering and green complexes anywhere. Holes like the stunning par-3 15th demand precision and creativity.
It is pure, timeless strategic golf - rewarding, visually captivating, and endlessly playable.
The West Course at Royal Melbourne is widely regarded as one of the finest golf courses on earth. Designed by Dr. Alister MacKenzie and superbly executed by Alex Russell, this Sandbelt masterpiece combines strategic depth, dramatic bunkering, and brilliant use of natural contours.
The routing flows beautifully across rolling terrain, with a series of strong doglegs, giant hazards, and fiendishly shaped greens that demand creativity and precision. Firm, fast conditions amplify every challenge while rewarding thoughtful play.
It remains an iconic test of golf that feels timeless yet endlessly engaging — a true bucket-list experience for any golfer fortunate enough to play it.
We will have a final group dinner tonight to share memories of the trip and crown the overall winner!

Royal Melbourne's East Course, opened in 1932, is a superb Sandbelt classic designed by Alex Russell and built under greenskeeper Mick Morcom's supervision. The West may garner much of the attention, but the East still ranks among Australia's top handful of courses and consistently features in the world Top 100.
The layout captivates with its cleverly bunkered holes and subtle but severe green contours. Several short-to-mid-length par-4s require pinpoint accuracy off the tee and plenty of imagination around the greens.
A round on the East is an excellent experience that holds its own as elite Sandbelt golf - engaging, impeccably presented, and well worth playing.
The Yarra Yarra Golf Club is one of the eight prestigious championship courses that make up the world-renowned Melbourne Sandbelt.
Established in 1898, the club moved to its current site in 1929. The course was originally designed by Alex Russell (the Australian design partner of legendary architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie). In recent years, it has undergone a significant restoration by Tom Doak and Renaissance Golf Design to return the layout to its original 1929 glory.
Characterized by fast, undulating greens and deep, "rugged" bunkers that blend into the natural sandy environment, Yarra Yarra is most famous for its collection of par 3s, which are often cited among the best in the world.
Victoria Golf Club in Cheltenham, on Melbourne's Sandbelt, is a timeless classic originally shaped by Alister MacKenzie in the 1920s, with recent enhancements by OCCM (Ogilvy, Clayton, Cocking and Mead) that have elevated it further. This now feels like a classic sandbelt course with firm, fast conditions, exquisite bunkering right up against collars, small contoured greens, and strategic depth that tests every facet of the game.
This is a fun course, it opens with a very short par 4 and the drivable par-4 15th offers one of the Sandbelt's most intriguing risk-reward moments.
Now ranked in the world's Top 100 golf courses, Victoria stands among Australia's elite - a joy to play, impeccably presented, and a must for any Sandbelt visitor.
