Cori Eichelberger is a former high school English teacher to at-risk students, whom she also taught to knit. She has spent 20 years teaching beginning knitting and technique classes and co-authored the knitting pattern book: Minnesota 52: 16 Knits Inspired by the Road (2017) and wrote Knitword: 8 Designs to Celebrate the Knitter (2021). Her high energy classes are extremely popular at yarn stores and retreats throughout the United States. Cori has had a YouTube knitting vlog since 2018 with an emphasis on inspiring knitters, sharing knowledge and making you laugh. One extra US 8 (4.5 mm) 16-inch circular needles (US 6 or 7 work will also work) Homework: Begin knitting 2 hats, you will need 3 skeins of yarn in different colors (contrasting 1 light and 1 dark) worsted weight yarn (50 gram leftovers work fine.)

Afternoon Arrival & Check-In: Guests will arrive in the afternoon and settle into their comfortable rooms at the Nome Schoolhouse. Take some time to explore the historic surroundings and relax before the weekend's activities begin.
Evening: Supper & Social Time Kick off the retreat with a delicious supper, followed by a casual evening of drinks and mingling. This is the perfect opportunity to get to know your fellow knitters in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, setting the stage for a weekend full of learning and creativity.

Morning Session: Bold Brilliant Braids – Latvian & Vikkel Start your day with a deep dive into the world of decorative braids. Cori will guide you through creating two-color Latvian braids and one-color Vikkel braids, teaching you how to incorporate these striking features into your knitting projects. You'll also learn Cori's 2-color cast-on technique as you begin two hat projects using these skills.
Materials Needed: 2 colors of worsted weight wool and two 16-inch size 8 circular needles.
Afternoon Session: 50 Shades of Sweaters – Fitting & Fixing In the afternoon, Cori will take you through an in-depth exploration of sweater knitting. You'll examine 50 hand-knit sweaters, discussing their construction, fit, and how to solve common issues like gapping necklines and ill-fitting sleeves. This session includes a try-on component, allowing you to see and feel the differences in various sweater designs, and helping you understand how to create a sweater that fits perfectly.
Evening: Skein to Skeins – An Interactive Game After a full day of learning, unwind with a lively game of "Skein to Skeins." Enjoy drinks from the bar as you and your fellow knitters team up to answer knitting trivia, fill in the blanks, and share some laughs. Cori will lead the game, ensuring a fun and memorable evening that brings everyone together.

Morning Session: Make Your Projects Shine – Knitting with Beads Sunday morning is all about adding a touch of elegance to your knitting. Cori will teach you how to incorporate beads into your work using the superfloss technique. You'll work on the Christina Hat or Cowl, exploring different methods for adding beads, whether for a subtle shimmer or a bold statement.
Farewell & Check-Out Wrap up the retreat with some final project touches and a brief Show & Tell session. Share your progress with the group, celebrate the skills you've learned, and enjoy a last round of knitting camaraderie. Check-out is at 1:00 PM, giving you plenty of time to pack up and say your goodbyes.
