This Zanzibar Island Extension offers a relaxing coastal experience after your Kilimanjaro adventure. Guests will explore the historic streets of Stone Town, visit the famous giant tortoises of Prison Island, and enjoy the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.

Transportation outside scheduled tours can be arranged locally with Cholo, a local taxi, or a private driver, with payment made directly.

Guests with late evening or night departure flights may choose to rest at Cholo’s Airbnb space, where luggage storage, a place to relax, and dinner before departure are included. This option is available as an optional add-on during booking or before arrival upon request to Winrica.

Day 1 – Arrival in Zanzibar & Sandbar Ocean Experience

Guests will arrive at Zanzibar International Airport, where a transfer team will greet them and provide transportation to their hotel in Stone Town.

If guests arrive before hotel check-in time, luggage can be securely stored at the hotel, and restroom facilities will be available for guests who wish to change before the afternoon activity.

Later in the day, guests will enjoy a Sandbar Ocean Tour. During low tide, a stretch of white sand appears in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by clear turquoise water. Guests can walk along the sandbar, swim in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, and enjoy the peaceful ocean scenery.

While at the sandbar, guests will also enjoy a fresh seafood lunch prepared locally, offering a relaxed meal in the middle of the ocean with beautiful views of Zanzibar’s coastline.

After the excursion, guests will return to the hotel for the evening.

Day 2 – Historic Stone Town Cultural Walking Tour

After breakfast, guests will meet their guide for a Stone Town Walking Tour.

Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich history and cultural influences from African, Arab, Indian, and European traditions.

Sites visited during the tour may include:

• Historic Slave Market Site

• Local Market

• House of Wonders

• Old Fort

• Palace Museum

• The narrow streets and carved wooden doors of Stone Town

Lunch is not included on this day, giving guests the flexibility to choose their own restaurant or try local street food while exploring the town.

Guests will have free time to explore Stone Town, visit shops, or relax at the hotel.

Overnight: Tembo House Hotel or Golden Tulip Stone Town

After breakfast, guests will travel by boat from Stone Town to Prison Island (Changuu Island).

Originally built in the 1860s, the island is now home to the famous Aldabra giant tortoise sanctuary, where visitors can observe tortoises that are more than 100 years old.

After returning from Prison Island, guests may choose to participate in an optional Spice Tour, where visitors can explore Zanzibar’s spice farms and learn about the island’s history as the “Spice Island.” Lunch is included during the Spice Tour.

Guests who prefer additional downtime before departure may relax at Cholo’s Airbnb space, where luggage can be stored and travelers may rest before evening flights. Dinner is included with the Airbnb rest option. This is an optional add-on and not included in the base extension pricing.

Later in the evening or depending on your flight itinerary, guests will be transferred to Zanzibar International Airport for their departure.
