Pura Playa: A Costa Rica Yoga Retreat image

About this Trip

Escape to the tropical beauty of Costa Rica’s Guanacaste coast for a rejuvenating yoga retreat designed to bring you back into rhythm with nature and yourself. Nestled above the Pacific in a stunning private villa in Playa Hermosa, this retreat blends sun-soaked relaxation, beachside adventure, and grounding yoga practices in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Our small-group retreat combines daily yoga sessions, tropical excursions, and ample downtime to help you unwind and rejuvenate. With panoramic ocean views, open-air living spaces, and a private pool, our villa provides the perfect laid-back setting to soak up Costa Rica’s “Pura Vida” lifestyle.

Retreat Highlights

  • Daily yoga classes (Hatha, Vinyasa, Power, and Restorative) are held on the villa’s spacious terrace with ocean views

  • Catamaran sailing along the coast — choose a morning cruise or a sunset sail with a beach BBQ dinner

  • La Leona Waterfall Hike, a hidden gem adventure with a fresh local lunch

  • Jungle River Cruise through lush mangroves, paired with a farm-to-table lunch

  • Hacienda Guachipelin Day Pass — an action-packed day of zip lining, horseback riding, river tubing, mud baths, and hot springs

  • Fresh, locally inspired meals prepared by our private chef at the villa

  • Private round-trip airport transfers and daily transportation included

All activities are optional, so that you can choose your own rhythm — whether that’s joining every adventure or simply relaxing by the pool with the ocean breeze. Each day presents opportunities for connection, exploration, and rejuvenation in one of Costa Rica’s most stunning coastal settings.

No visa is required for U.S. or Canadian citizens staying fewer than 90 days. Upon arrival, you may be asked to show proof of onward or return travel.

  • Travel Insurance: Strongly recommended for health, trip cancellations, and lost belongings.

  • Currency: The official Costa Rican currency is the colón, however U.S. dollars are widely accepted. It's recommended to bring small bills for tips and local shops. Credit cards are accepted at most restaurants and activity providers.

Health & Safety:

  • No special vaccines are required; routine immunizations should be up to date.

  • Filtered drinking water will be available at the villa, and bottled water is also provided.

  • Insect repellent is recommended for outdoor activities, especially at dusk.

Local Etiquette:

  • Basic Spanish greetings, such as hola (hello) and gracias (thank you), go a long way.

  • Dress modestly and casually when visiting local towns or rural communities.

Technology & Connectivity:

  • Wi-Fi is available at the villa; however, the speed may vary in some areas. Take advantage of the opportunity to unplug.

  • Costa Rica uses standard 110V U.S.-style outlets, so no adapter is needed for travelers from North America.

  • Cell service is generally reliable in the area near Playa Hermosa. Check with your provider to determine if they offer international coverage options.

Flexibility & Expectations:

  • This is a private, small-group trip with flexibility built in.

  • Itinerary is subject to change due to weather, traffic, or local conditions.

Other Tips:

  • Comfortable backpack/day bag for excursions.

  • Bring a water bottle and refill when possible.
