🇪🇸 Entre la selva q’eqchi’ de Alta Verapaz, el río Cahabón se oculta bajo un puente natural de piedra caliza y, en la superficie, da vida a una serie de pozas turquesa escalonadas: Semuc Champey, cuyo significado es “donde el río se esconde”.
Este itinerario te llevará a Lanquín, desde donde ascenderás al mirador para contemplar el impresionante mosaico natural de piscinas, y luego podrás sumergirte en sus aguas cristalinas. Para quienes buscan más aventura, existe la opción de añadir tubing en el río Cahabón o explorar las cuevas de K’anba.
🇺🇸 Deep in the q’eqchi’ jungle of Alta Verapaz, the Cahabón River disappears beneath a natural limestone bridge, while above it forms a series of stunning turquoise pools: Semuc Champey, meaning “where the river hides.”
This itinerary takes you to Lanquín, where you’ll hike up to a scenic viewpoint to admire the breathtaking natural pools, and then enjoy time to swim in their crystal-clear waters. For those seeking more adventure, you can also add tubing on the Cahabón River or explore the K’anba caves.
DÍA 01: TRASLADO ANTIGUA - LANQUÍN
7:45 AM: Espera al bus que te recogerá en tu hotel.
Entre 08:00 AM a 8:30 AM: Salida desde Antigua Guatemala hacia Lanquín. El traslado durará entre 8 y 9 horas. Te recomendamos llevar snacks y agua.
DÍA 02: VISITA SEMUC CHAMPEY Y CUEVAS
08:30 AM : Espera a que lleguen por ti en el lobby de tu hotel.
Salida desde tu hotel en Lanquín con un traslado de aproximadamente 30 minutos hacia las Cuevas de Kamba, unas cuevas húmedas con un río interior. Durante aproximadamente una hora, vivirás una aventura única saltando, nadando, caminando y escalando. El recorrido cuenta con cuerdas y escaleras que facilitan la exploración, haciendo la experiencia segura y emocionante.
Luego, nos dirigimos a la Cascada de Semuc Champey, donde, dependiendo del nivel del río, podrás nadar alrededor de la cascada y, para los más atrevidos, disfrutar de saltos de 3, 4 y hasta 8 metros.
Alrededor del mediodía, habrá tiempo para almorzar un almuerzo empacado, seguido de la visita a Semuc Champey por la tarde. Comenzaremos con una caminata de aproximadamente una hora hasta el mirador, donde se obtienen vistas espectaculares del lugar. Luego exploraremos el Sumidero y finalmente las famosas piscinas naturales, ideales para relajarse y disfrutar del entorno único de este paraíso guatemalteco.
DÍA 03: TRASLADO LANQUÍN - ANTIGUA
8:00 AM : Salida desde el punto de encuentro hacia Ciudad de Guatemala. Serán entre 6 a 7 horas de traslado. Te recomendamos llevar snacks y agua. El trafico podría ser pesado y tardar mas de lo normal.

Al tratarse de servicios colectivos, es necesario que te encuentres en los puntos de encuentro en el horario establecido. Debes estar atento cuando llamen tu nombre y mantenerte en un lugar visible. Es posible que debas esperar un tiempo, ya que los buses recogerán a otros pasajeros en el trayecto. Agradecemos tu paciencia.
Si no llegas a los puntos de reunión en el horario indicado, el bus continuará su ruta sin esperar. Guatemala Nature no se hace responsable por pérdidas de transporte por falta de puntualidad.
El traslado es largo, con paradas estratégicas únicamente para comer y usar el baño.
Te recomendamos llevar efectivo para tus comidas durante tu estadía en Semuc Champey, ya que el hostal se encuentra en una zona remota, y aunque hay cajeros, son pocos y a veces no tienen dinero disponible.
Temporada de Lluvias: Mayo, junio, Agosto septiembre , Octubre es temporada de lluvias, por lo que los traslados por carretera y la visita a Semuc Champey dependerán en gran medida del clima. Si el río se encuentra crecido por motivos de seguridad, la visita podría no realizarse. Esta situación solo se podrá confirmar con pocas horas de antelación, y cualquier cancelación de último momento no será reembolsable..
DAY 01: TRANSFER FROM ANTIGUA TO LANQUÍN

DAY 02: VISIT SEMUC CHAMPEY AND CAVES
08:30 AM: Wait for your pickup in the lobby of your hotel.
Departure from your hotel in Lanquín with a transfer of approximately 30 minutes to the Kamba Caves, a damp cave with an interior river. For about an hour, you will experience a unique adventure jumping, swimming, walking, and climbing. The route has ropes and ladders that facilitate exploration, making the experience safe and exciting.
Then, we head to the Semuc Champey Waterfall, where, depending on the river level, you can swim around the waterfall and, for the more daring, enjoy jumps of 3, 4, and even 8 meters.
Around noon, there will be time for a packed lunch, followed by the visit to Semuc Champey in the afternoon. We will start with a hike of about an hour to the viewpoint, where spectacular views of the area can be enjoyed. Then we will explore the Sinkhole and finally the famous natural pools, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the unique surroundings of this Guatemalan paradise.
DAY 03: TRANSFER FROM LANQUÍN TO ANTIGUA
8:00 AM: Departure from the meeting point to Guatemala City. It will take between 6 to 7 hours. We recommend bringing snacks and water. Traffic may be heavy and take longer than usual.

As these are shared services, it is necessary for you to be at the meeting points at the scheduled time. You should be alert when your name is called and stay in a visible location. You may have to wait for a while, as the buses will be picking up other passengers along the way. We appreciate your patience.
If you do not arrive at the meeting points at the indicated time, the bus will continue its route without waiting. Guatemala Nature is not responsible for transportation losses due to lack of punctuality.
The transfer is long, with strategic stops only for meals and restroom use.
We recommend bringing cash for your meals during your stay in Semuc Champey, as the hostel is located in a remote area, and although there are ATMs, they are few and sometimes do not have money available.
Rainy Season: May, June, August, September, October is the rainy season, so road transfers and visits to Semuc Champey will largely depend on the weather. If the river is swollen for safety reasons, the visit may not take place. This situation can only be confirmed a few hours in advance, and any last-minute cancellations will not be refundable.
