We gather in the beautiful coastal town of Baiona, in northern Portugal, settle into our hotel, enjoy dinner together, and prepare for our first day of walking.

Baiona is an elegant fishing village famous for having been the first port in Europe where, with the arrival of La Pinta, the discovery of America was announced

There you can visit places that make reference to this event, such as the Monument to the Encounter between two worlds or the Pinta Caravel Museum.

We will go to bed early to begin our journey right after a good breakfast! on Monday, September 7th.

Then you will continue along a cobbled path until you encounter several towns and you will have charming panoramic views of the Bay of Vigo.

We will arrive at Pontevedra, a city that is definitely worth knowing. Enjoy a walk through its historic quarter and take advantage of its exquisite gastronomy.

Padron to Santiago: 15.5 miles

Gradually the arrows that indicate the route will disappear, which will give you a sign that you are close to reaching the culmination point of this unforgettable pilgrimage route.

You will enter the old town by the Porta Faxeira, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and when you take the Rua do Franco, emotion will begin to take you over, because you will be just a few steps from the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, where it's believed that the remains of Santiago the Apostle rest.

After taking a few minutes to experience the joy of reaching your goal, you will be able to participate in a Pilgrim's Mass if you'd like, the ritual of welcoming all walkers who arrive in Santiago.

We will spend the night in Santiago de Compostela and enjoy the morning there!

There is a lot to see in Santiago! We recommend getting lost in the streets of the old town, there are many churches, bars and restaurants to go to. The Plaza de Abastos is one of the favorite places and it isn't crowded with pilgrims.

Sitting on the stairs of the Plaza de la Quintana and going into the Cathedral are two things a pilgrim must do, our hotel will be just a few steps from here :)

If you'd like to go into the cathedral you'd want to avoid the long lines. We advise that you book a visit to the Portico de la Gloria. The non-guided visit is free, but you must book a day and time. The ticket is a QR which lets you enter without waiting in line, but only at your scheduled time.

The cathedral is worth visiting to see the newly restored Portico and from there, once the visit is over, you have access to see the rest of the cathedral.

Finally, you can go with your stamped passport to the pilgrim's office to pick up your Compostela credential.

The best views of the city and the Cathedral are from the gardens of the Alameda, and also from the park of Santo Domingo de Bonaval, another place we recommend you go if you have time and energy!
