Your tour leader and Tanzania expert, Gilbert met Fat Girls Traveling founder, Annette on a tour in 2022. The two hit it off immediately and have remained friends since. Learning that less than 15% of safaris in Africa are Black-owned is one of many things that inspired Annette to curate this tour.

The Plus Size Tanzania Tour was created with plus-size travelers in mind. However, travelers of all sizes and gender identities are invited to this tour. It is perfect for animal lovers who want to experience an African safari with an African-owned tour company.

Everyone has different mobility levels and we want to be as transparent about accessibility as possible. We also want to remind you that all of the activities are voluntary.

You should fly in and out of Kilimanjaro International Airport.
All deposits are non-refundable.
If you cancel within 90 days of the getaway you will receive a 75% refund minus the non-refundable deposit.
If you cancel within 60 days of the getaway you will receive a 50% refund minus the non-refundable deposit.
If you cancel within 31-59 days of the getaway you will receive a 25% refund minus the non-refundable deposit.
If you cancel less than 30 days before the getaway you will not receive a refund.
If we cancel the getaway you will receive a full refund.
In the event of illness, injury, or other extenuating circumstances affecting the trip, the departure will be rescheduled. If you can not attend during the new dates, you will receive a refund and your deposit will be transferred.

Jambo! Welcome to Tanzania. Your adventure begins in Arusha Town in northern Tanzania. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our airport representative who will then transfer you to the hotel for check in.
At dinner you will meet your group and Tour Leader to discuss the itinerary and answer your questions about trip.

After breakfast and hotel check out your group will head to Tarangire National Park for lunch and your first game drive!
Tarangire National Park, often referred to as the "home of elephants" is one of East Africa's best places to see elephants up close, hosting about 4000 elephants.
After your first safari the group will head to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay under African skies.

After check out you'll go on a game drive en route to Karatu, an area close to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
You'll arrive at the lodge in time to check in and have lunch. In the afternoon, you can relax by the poolside, or go on a optional coffee tour.

After breakfast, we will depart the lodge and drive to Ngorongoro crater where we will proceed with a game drive in this renowned crater, always touted as the Garden of Eden by wildlife enthusiast.
The park is home to various species of wildlife including lions, zebras, elephants, gazelles, hyenas, wildebeest and the endangered black rhino. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the floor of the crater before proceeding north towards Serengeti National Park, arriving late in the evening.
Upon arrival, you will check-in and freshen up as you wait for time for dinner before retiring to bed ready for the next day.

Serengeti is well known for its vast rolling plains and is home to various species of animals including lions, zebras, leopards, giraffes, buffalos, cheetahs, and many more. After breakfast, you will head off for an early morning game drive in the park.
For lunch, you will go to the lodge and then relax a little bit. Later in the afternoon when it has cooled down and the animals are more active, you will go for another game drive. Enjoy a refreshing "Sundowner’" with wine and snacks.

Today you'll depart after breakfast and head to the town of Karatu. You'll have a game drive en route in search of wildlife before exiting the park.
There will be a brief stop there before proceeding towards the Ngorongoro plains and later to the lodge for the night.

The trip comes to an end today after breakfast and no activities are planned. You will be transferred to the airport for your international flight back home.
