Spend a day in service with the Ghana Bamboo Bike Initiative helping to tackle real community needs. Break bread with locals for lunch and celebrate a job well done with an IDTT Welcome Dinner.
If you feeling froggy jump out of bed to for a morning bamboo bike tour of Kumasi. For those interested in shopping, Kumasi hosts a large market in the center of the city where you can get your fill of authentic Kente'. Lastly partake in lakeside dinner and Ghanaian ritual that is sure to connect and reunite you with the homeland.
Catch an early flight back to Accra, check-in, and prepare to explore! For the next few days It's Deeper Than Travel will be partnering with Tastemakers Africa to bring you the authenticity of Greater Accra. Explore Jamestown and High Street then journey through the beginnings of Accra. For lunch, share Ivorian specialties of attieke and aloco with a special surprise. Visit the resting place of Kwame Nkrumah and W.E.B. Dubois and have a photo shoot at Black Star Square.
Learn the art of tie-die Batik as you make your own fabric and patterns. While letting your bespoke textiles dry shop for artisanal goods and souvenirs for your friends. Watch traditional Kente weavers and purchase an authentic piece of Ghana’s famous cloth.
Kick off round two of our service adventures while you serve and eat lunch with local Ghanaians in Accra. Later that night the convo and connections get deeper during our international Pan African forum, Ah-Go Ah-May. Dispel stereotypes, share positive vibes, meet someone new, and learn something new.
Today we let go of the reigns and let you do your own thang. Spend a day catching up on sleep, roam downtown Accra via Uber, book an experience through the Tastemakers Africa app, whatever fits your fancy today you become your own guide.
Depart Accra for Cape Coast and visit Elmina and Cape Coast Castle. Our Ancestors left through the "Door of No Return" but we will return on their behalf to these important reminders of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Enjoy a beach side lunch before heading to Kakum National Forest and doing a canopy walk. Finish your day by the bonfire at Busua Beach and reflect.
Explore the beautiful Cape Three Points and climb the lighthouse overlooking Ghana’s cape. Relax on the beach with a surf side BBQ and enjoy some down time with your new found friends. Unwind for the day before heading back to Accra.
