This year we’ll be traveling to Ghana for another joyous return. It’s been over 400 years since our ancestors were stolen from the shores of West Africa and brought to the Americas against their will. Now, we’re traveling back to our ancestral home to discover our ancestral roots and turn up in the motherland.
Join us from December 27, 2020 - January 3, 2021, for the ultimate NYE celebration. This trip is designed for Black Millennials (ages 23-35) and our experiences will be designed accordingly.

*Accommodations are based on double occupancy. Rooms will feature two twin beds or 1 extra-large bed.
*Flights are not included. However, we can help you find the best flight options. Please plan to arrive in Accra by 4 PM on December 27, 2020.
* Due to the nature of Buoyant trips, acts of nature or other unforeseen interruptions, please note the itinerary schedule may change without notice.
* Travel Insurance is NOT included but is highly recommended. By booking this trip, you agree that Buoyant is not responsible for any injuries, lost or stolen property, canceled or missed flights or death.
* If you choose to opt-out of attending any scheduled itinerary activities, Buoyant will not provide refunds or trip credits.
* In the case of an emergency which requires trip cancellation, this will be handled on a case-by-case basis. $150 deposits are nonrefundable and no refunds will be issued after June 2020.
* You must be willing to provide us with a copy of the following by the requested deadline (TBA): yellow fever card, valid passport, valid Ghana visa, and emergency contact information.
* Ghana is a developing nation and although they have a stable infrastructure and booming tourism industry, things will not operate as they would in a western country like the U.S. or UK. We will cross-check everything to ensure the smoothest trip possible, however, there are likely to be hiccups (holiday traffic, slow customer service, tardy events, etc). If you lack patience, this trip will not be enjoyable for you and we would love for you to join us for a different experience.
We will be staying at a lovely boutique property in the Osu neighborhood of Accra, La Villa Boutique Hotel or similar*.

All guests room will feature either 2 twin beds or 1 extra-large bed to share. If you are not comfortable with sharing a room and/or bed with someone else, please do not book this trip.

Guests rooms will be the La Villa 'Standard Double Room' which features a private bathroom, terrace with garden/pool view or city view, toiletries, AC, safe, desk, TV, electronic kettle, hairdryer, and ironing/laundry services (an additional charge).
Unfortunately, our accommodations are not accessible for persons with disabilities.
* We reserve the right for this itinerary (including accommodations) to change at any time.
Breakfast* is included in the trip price and will be provided each morning by the restaurant at our accommodation. 1 welcome dinner and 4 lunches will be provided.
There are 7 breakfasts, 4 lunches, 1 dinner, and 1 cocktail included. Additionally, we will provide light snacks and water on tour days.
*Breakfast will the same each day with little to no variation. If you'd like to make changes to this, you will be responsible for associated costs*
There will be plenty of built-in free time on this group trip where you can explore bustling Accra or other parts of Ghana. We will provide you with a Buoyant Travel Guide: Accra Edition, for all of the best restaurants, shops, and nightlife in the city.
You will receive this guide at least one month prior to the trip.

At least one month prior to the trip, you'll be sent a document that includes links and resources for more information about visa and vaccination requirements for Ghana.
A note on COVID-19: Any travelers who book our December 2020 experience will be notified by late summer to early fall, with any news of a trip cancellation. While we are remaining hopeful that COVID-19 will not interfere with our end of December trip, we will continue to monitor U.S. travel warnings throughout this pandemic.
If this trip is canceled by Buoyant, all registered attendees will receive a full refund of any trip payments made up until the point of cancellation by Buoyant. However, the $150 nonrefundable fee will remain nonrefundable. We hope that you can understand that this fee acts as an administrative coverage for our small team.
If we, Buoyant, operate this December 2020 Ghana experience, we will not honor any traveler's request for a refund due to personal travel concerns. We highly recommend the personal purchase of travel insurance.

- Buoyant reserves the right to cancel any individual's trip spot without notice.
- A nonrefundable $150 deposit is due at the time of booking.
- Late payments will incur a $10 late fee following a 5-day grace period.
- Continuous late payments may result in a cancellation of your trip without a refund.
- Refunds due to emergencies will be handled on a case-by-case basis. All refund requests must be in writing and sent via email to hello@youmetravel.co.
- We will not process any refunds for this December 2020 Ghana experience after August 1, 2020.
Chargebacks
If we receive any chargeback notifications from your bank, it will prompt an immediate cancellation of your reservation and participation in Buoyant's Ghana December 2020 experience
We will pick you up upon arrival and drop you off to the airport at departure.
We will provide transportation to all scheduled itinerary activities.
You will stay in a private room in a boutique-style hotel with a lovely pool.
Some meals will be included as indicated on the itinerary. 7 Breakfasts, 4 lunches, 1 Dinner and 1 cocktail.
Our photographer will be there to capture the adventures so you can focus on living in the moment.
You'll receive a carefully curated travel guide to the best restaurants, events and nightlife in Accra. Flights, visa and vaccination info will also be included.
You will receive a Buoyant travel guide to finding cheap flights. It will also include visa & immunizations information.
We will work with our friends on the ground to curate the perfect 'December in Ghana' playlist. You're going to need a soundtrack for this adventure!
We will create a WhatsApp group message (2 weeks before the trip) for you to connect with other trip attendees and for daily trip communication from our team.
You'll have a dedicated trip ambassador ( a local) to answer questions during the trip and all itinerary activities.
Flights are not included in the cost of this trip but we can help you find the best deals.
Meals that aren't listed on the itinerary are not included.
Travel insurance is highly recommended however it is not included. If you want travel insurance, you must acquire it on your own.
Costs associated with some opt-in activities like cabana rentals.
If you decide to skip out on any scheduled itinerary activities, we will not provide a refund or credits to redo experiences.
You must purchase all alcohol and drinks which are not included in the meals listed on the itinerary. 1 welcome dinner cocktail is included.
If the room is damaged in any way the traveler is responsible for paying the associated fees directly to the accommodation provider.
You are free to tip our guides and other service providers as desired.
Entry to Ghana requires a visa and yellow fever vaccination. The associated fees must be paid for by the traveler.
We will pick you up from Kotoka International Airport and whisk you away to our cozy boutique accommodations in the Osu neighborhood of Accra.
A Buoyant gift will await you and as you settle into your suite, our team will be setting up for tonight's welcome dinner.
At dinner, you will get your first taste of Ghana with authentic Ghanian dishes. This is the perfect time to connect with the other travelers who you'll be exploring Ghana with for the next week.
Let's be honest, we'll probably want to turn up after dinner. We're plugged in with the nightlife in Accra so we'll let you in on the best places to be tonight.

Ever wanted to turn up wit' ya people on the continent? Yeah us too. Today we will celebrate our homecoming at Ghana's newest African music festival, Afrochella. It's like Coachella only black and better.
The festival features music, food (Jollof anyone?) and local art. Afrochella is a celebration of African culture and the perfect place to celebrate your return to the gold coast.
We've got good news - VIP Afrochella tickets are included in your trip price because we know you're here to have a really good time.

Today we will explore the best of Accra. Our city tour will take us to famous landmarks like the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial, Ghana's Independence Square, and the W.E.B DuBois Center. We will learn the history of this beautiful country and it explores its relationships with famous pan Africanists like Maya Angelou.
After our tour, we'll head back home to change and pre-game for a fun night out in Osu.

How have you been enjoying your new home so far? Have you recovered from the Afrochella festivities? We hope so!
Today is our official return home to Ghana and we'll celebrate with a transformative visit to Cape Coast and Elmina Castle. We will walk through the 'Door Of No Return' and along the same path as our ancestors during their last moments on the coast of West Africa.
This part of the trip will be powerful and emotional for many. Our expert guide will show us around the castles sharing touching stories of our ancestral past. After the tour, we'll have time to reflect over an oceanside lunch.

You probably already know by now that Ghana in December is lit but tonight will prove it for sure.
During the day, join us on a relaxing morning stroll to Makola Market. We will end our market morning with a visit to one of our favorite boutiques in Accra, The Shop, where we'll enjoy a light lunch.
Tonight, we'll head out for a night on the town in celebration of the prosperous new year ahead. There are many NYE parties to attend in Accra and while we'd love for everyone to party together, we understand that you may have your own NYE plans.
