Dear Fellow Sojourners and Future Travelers!

On behalf of the Sankofa US Team, we are thrilled to guide you on a powerful journey—one we call Sankofa!
In the months ahead, you'll hear this word often - Sankofa. Sankofa is a profound concept that means "return to your roots… so you can move forward." It’s more than just a word—it’s our mantra and the foundation of everything we do.

Sankofa US has been facilitating trips to Ghana for nearly fifteen years and I personally have been traveling to Ghana for over 20 years. We look forward to facilitating your time in Ghana West Africa! That being said...

Welcome to The Worship Center & Faithful Central Bible Church's Sankofa Tour Ghana with US, Dr. Van Moody and Dr. John-Paul C. Foster!!!

Prepare to experience the full beauty and culture of Ghana, West Africa!  Beginning in Accra, this tour continues on to explore the unimaginable peace and deep culture of 3 regions - the Eastern, Central and the Greater Accra Regions! Travelers will witness firsthand the rapid growth of this historic country. The travelers will also see how this young Republic survives and thrives in today's geo-political climate. Travelers will have opportunities to shop and negotiate with craft artists face-to-face.  The church will visit village schools, tour museums, explore nature, and encounter chiefs and queen mothers. But most importantly, the travelers will experience their own reactions to learning firsthand about the strength, resilience and brilliance of those whom history has recorded and entitled as "slaves"; on Sankofa we learn that they were not slaves... they were/are our ancestors!

Get ready to be welcomed home!

Bishop Lance L. Davis, Minister LaNiece Thomas, and the Sankofa US Team

SANKOFA Tour of Ghana

The Sankofa Tour is more than just a getaway — it's a vibrant blend of sun, history, culture, and meaningful conversations that leave a lasting impact.
Bishop Lance Davis, former Executive Minister of the Evangelical Covenant Church and co-founder of Sankofa US, has journeyed to Ghana for over two decades. His business partner, LaNiece Thomas, leads the coordination of each tour, ensuring a seamless, comfortable, and enriching experience so travelers can fully immerse themselves in their personal "Return Experience."

Together through Sankofa US, they curate journeys designed to offer a one-of-a-kind experience — one that deepens your understanding of the past, redefines your view of the present, and transforms your vision for the future — of yourself, your heritage, and of Mother Africa.

What is SANKOFA

Sankofa is an ancient Adinkra symbol that shows a bird facing forward, yet looking back with a piece of fruit in its mouth. It means, "It is a good thing to return to one's beginnings in order to properly move forward." We call this trip the Sankofa Tour because as we make forward progress in our lives, it is important that we look back to the place that connects us to the root of our being; our place in the world. That fruit in the mouth represents the good fruit we leave behind when we truly know ourselves.

While this holds true for African Americans, African Canadians and millions of others of the African diaspora, it also holds true for every human of every hue; of every ethnic background. Learning the truth of history is liberating for all.
