Although she runs several businesses in beauty, fashion and travel she has a solid academic grounding with a bachelors from NYU in sociology, a master’s in history from Western CT State University and a second master’s in teaching for social justice from Marlboro College. Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)

During NYNA, Marrakech will pulse with continental pride as Africa’s biggest sporting event — the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) — fills the city with electric energy. From fan zones to viewing parties, the spirit of unity and competition will spill into every street, connecting travelers and locals in the shared rhythm of victory, culture, and joy.

Due to FIFA expanding its Club World Cup competition to 32 teams , this edition of the tournament will be played between December 21, 2025 and January 18, 2026. It will be the first time that the tournament will be played over the Christmas and New Year period.

Welcome to Marrakech! After you check in and settle at the hotel. The evening begins at 6:00 PM with the Battles of the Nations Showcase, where African organizations unite to highlight the pride, rhythm, and spirit of their home nations through music, dance, and cultural performance.

At 8:00 PM, the night flows into a vibrant Reception, which seamlessly transforms into the Afrobeats After Dark Party—held inside the Meydene lobby, which is fully transformed into the immersive Asopo House. Top DJs blend Afrobeats, Amapiano, and global rhythms as guests dance, connect, and celebrate the unity and diversity of the African world.

Throughout the day, panels, keynotes, and curated dialogues illuminate the ideas redefining Africa’s global narrative from the rise of the creative economy to the role of football in driving social impact. As the sun sets, the energy shifts into celebration with the opening reception of Expressive Creative Soul, a stunning art exhibition showcasing visionary talent from across the diaspora.

Ring in 2026 with a transcendent night of music, spirit, and celebration. This year’s New Year New Air Concert is headlined by the incomparable Grammy Award–winning Mumu Fresh, whose voice, artistry, and cultural power have made her one of the most influential Afro-Indigenous performers of our time. Doors open at 7PM, with the show beginning promptly at 8PM—an immersive, emotionally charged musical journey that invites guests to close the year in reflection, power, and collective intention.

The evening opens with an electrifying performance by Viktoria Vennice, a rising force reshaping the soul and R&B landscape. Viktoria Vennice steps onto the stage with runway precision and jazz-infused flair—an international performer whose fusion of R&B, jazz, and high-fashion presence captivates audiences around the world. Her Southern roots, sharp wit, and commanding silhouette make her performances unforgettable, blending elegance with artistic fire.

Then, Mumu Fresh takes the stage—an artist celebrated worldwide as a “quadruple threat,” praised by legends such as Black Thought and Common for her groundbreaking contributions to music and culture. Also known as Maimouna Youssef, she is a GRAMMY–nominated, Indigenous Music Award–winning vocalist, emcee, songwriter, activist, and musical ambassador whose genre-spanning sound weaves Jazz, Gospel, Hip Hop, Soul, traditional African and Indigenous music into one expansive sonic universe. Fresh off her latest album, The Healing, she brings a performance that is both ceremonial and electrifying—an offering of sound, spirit, and storytelling.

After the concert, the celebration continues at Akira Back with an exclusive VIP New Year’s Eve Countdown—an elevated fusion of R&B, Afrobeats, and Afro House curated to usher us into 2026 with rhythm, luxury, and community. This dynamic, solutions-focused workshop explores how people across the African Diaspora are shaping a new era of African independence—rooted not only in political sovereignty, but in cultural reclamation, economic self-determination, spiritual awakening, and global solidarity. Participants will examine the current shifts happening across the continent—from rising Pan-African entrepreneurship and cultural exports to land ownership movements, food sovereignty, technological innovation, and the power of Diasporic return. The session invites participants to envision how collective action can strengthen Africa’s evolution in this new age.

2pm: Game Changers: The Power of African Sports Tourism. Explores how sports can drive tourism, investment, and cultural pride across the continent. 

Topics include: 

•Leveraging global events like AFCON, marathons, and surf competitions for economic growth 

• Building world-class facilities and local sports academies 

• Attracting sports fans and athletes through cultural festivals and heritage experiences

8PM:The Creative Communion

Black Honey invites you to the premiere of our Saturday Brunch—a flavorful fusion of African American favorites blended with touches of African world cuisine and crafted with soul. Enjoy vibrant dishes, warm community, and the signature Mwasi hospitality that turns brunch into a celebration.

5pm - 7pm: The Textile Nations Talk Series

The Textile Nations Talk Series is an engaging, two-part exploration of the artistry, innovation, and cultural power of African textiles and fashion. Designed to deepen understanding of Africa’s creative heritage, the series invites guests into conversations with master artisans, designers, historians, and industry leaders who are shaping the future of textile design across the continent. Through storytelling, demonstration, and dialogue, participants will journey into the roots of African fabrics, their symbolism, their evolving global significance, and the contemporary movements redefining style and identity today.

8pm: Textile Nations Fashion Show

Hosted by the Asopo Festival and powered by Kuba Concepts, is a runway experience that celebrates the creativity, heritage, and cultural power of African fashion. The evening begins with a cocktail reception at 6PM, followed by the runway show at 7PM, bringing to life an Africa that creates, produces, inspires, and exports its beauty to the world. Designers and artisans from across the continent will showcase textiles as a living legacy—symbols of unity, innovation, and economic strength. Set within the vibrant atmosphere of M Avenue during AFCON, the runway becomes a meeting point where ancestral techniques merge with contemporary style, where craftsmanship and modern industry stand side by side, and where audiences from around the world are invited to witness the soul of Africa expressed through fabric, movement, and design.
