About your trip

Dear Mwasi Global Community, Supporters, and Friends,

Five years ago, we began building Mwasi with a simple but radical belief—that Black people deserve safe, beautiful, culturally grounded spaces to rest, reconnect, create, heal, learn, and build across the Diaspora. Today, Mwasi has grown into a living ecosystem of mental wellness, artistic expression, cultural exchange, and global possibility. And we are just getting started.

As many of you know, we are in the final stages of securing construction permits for our new bungalows in Marrakesh. The process has been slower and more complex than anticipated, and while we wait, we refuse to pause our momentum. Community doesn’t stop for paperwork. Healing doesn’t stop for bureaucracy. Vision doesn’t wait for permission.

So we continue building—spirit first.

We are grateful that the next phase of expansion does not require permits. Our residential tents and our multi-use yoga pagoda can begin immediately, allowing us to keep growing, welcoming, and serving our global community while the bungalow approvals finalize.

To sustain this work and prepare for the future, we are launching a focused capital campaign:

We are raising 500K.

This campaign will allow us to secure some much needed working capital, projects around the property and begin immediate construction on six luxury residential tents and one yoga and wellness pagoda. These sacred spaces will house and support the heart of our mission—our residency programs, educational initiatives, and intergenerational healing work:

✅ The Black Therapist in Residence Program
A monthly mental health residency where Black therapists live onsite, serve our retreats, lead workshops, and provide culturally competent care rooted in our collective experience. This program ensures that emotional, psychological, and spiritual well-being remain central—not optional—in Black travel and community building.

✅ The Taksu Artist Residency
An intimate, month-long creative incubator that coincides with the 1-54 Art Fair, welcoming artists, musicians, digital creators, writers, and cultural thinkers from across the Diaspora. Through collaboration, mentorship, exhibitions, workshops, and cultural immersion, Taksu positions Mwasi and Marrakesh as a global hub for Black artistic innovation.

✅ Young Black & Global Study Abroad + Internship Program (College Level)
A four-week academic and professional immersion where students explore alternative community building, social entrepreneurship, business development, arts, wellness, tourism, and cultural preservation—while actively shaping Mwasi’s future through research, program design, and hands-on work.

✅ Young Black & Global Summer Camp (Ages 10–17)
A life-changing month for Black youth to explore Morocco, build cross-cultural friendships, travel the Sahara, learn history, discover identity, and experience the world as theirs—not something they must ask permission to enter.

✅ Global Work, Exchange & Professional Pathways
Creating real opportunities for Black people to live, teach, work, heal, and contribute around the world—expanding our understanding of what is possible for ourselves and for our communities.

---

These luxury tents and the yoga pagoda are not simply structures—they are extensions of purpose. They will allow us to host more therapists, elders, artists, students, families, educators, innovators, wellness leaders, and cultural architects who will leave Mwasi and carry this work into the world.

And for those who want to support while also experiencing Mwasi firsthand, we invite you to join:

Our Mission

The T. Barnes Global Foundation is dedicated to creating pathways for Black people to expand their horizons through travel, teaching, and learning across the world. By cultivating opportunities that merge cultural immersion with skill-sharing, the foundation empowers individuals to engage with global communities in meaningful ways—whether by teaching English abroad, participating in study and internship programs, or learning from local traditions and innovations. Our mission is to ensure that Black people are not only participants but leaders in the global exchange of knowledge, culture, and opportunity, building bridges that strengthen both personal growth and collective advancement.

---

We are asking our community—those who believe in this mission, who have traveled with us, who have witnessed the transformation, who understand the urgency of building Black global infrastructure—to give, share, contribute, and champion this campaign.

Whether it’s $50, $500, $5,000—or joining us for Investment Week—every offering brings us closer.

Mwasi was never built by one person. It has always been a collective act of faith, love, courage, and alignment. And now, at this threshold, we invite you to stand with us again.

Because when the permits arrive—and they will—we intend to already have the community, the programming, and the physical foundation ready to receive what we prayed for.

Let’s raise $500,000
Let’s build the next chapter of Mwasi together.
Let’s continue creating the world we want to live in.

With deep gratitude, conviction, and joy,
T. Barnes

No-Refund Policy

Mwasi No-Refunds Policy
At Mwasi, all payments made toward retreats, accommodations, programs, and experiences are non-refundable. By submitting payment, guests acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined below.

Why We Maintain a No-Refunds Policy
1. Limited Capacity & Niche Programming
Mwasi offers highly curated, purpose-driven experiences within a niche market. Our retreats are intentionally small to preserve the integrity, safety, and intimacy of the experience. Because of this, rooms and retreat spots are not easily rebooked once reserved.

2. Reservation of Space
When you register and make a payment, a specific room and retreat space is held exclusively for you. That reservation removes the opportunity for another guest to participate. Even if a cancellation occurs, the space may remain unused.

3. Advance Planning & Fixed Costs
Retreats and programs require significant advance preparation, including:
• Staffing and facilitators
• Housing and meals
• Programming, materials, and excursions
• Vendor and community partner commitments.
Many of these costs are incurred well before the retreat begins and cannot be recovered if a participant cancels.

4. Payment Plans for Your Convenience
To make participation accessible, Mwasi offers payment plans. These plans are a convenience—not a reservation hold without commitment. All payments made under a payment plan are still non-refundable.

5. Commitment to Fairness
A no-refund policy allows us to operate sustainably and fairly—ensuring that costs are not shifted onto other participants or the Mwasi community when cancellations occur.

6. Personal Circumstances
We understand that life can be unpredictable. However, Mwasi cannot absorb the financial impact of personal emergencies, scheduling conflicts, travel issues, visa delays, or changes in personal circumstances. We require guests to purchase travel insurance that includes trip cancellation and interruption coverage.

Agreement & Acknowledgment
By submitting payment, you confirm that you:
Have read and understand Mwasi’s No-Refunds Policy
Accept full financial responsibility for your reservation
Agree that all payments are final and non-refundable
