Learn the art of hand dyeing and the practice of keeping a daily sketchbook. Participants will be recording the trip and the beauty and colors of Morocco each day, and Anna will offer one on one instruction on how to dye by hand and compose a beautiful artist sketchbook that you will treasure.
From the hustle of the Marrakech's Medina to the beautiful windswept beaches of Essaouria, get ready to fall in love with this vibrant country. This creative retreat includes beautiful museums, fascinating cultural tours, two nights at the beach...a camel ride at sunset anyone?
Participants will stay at the stunning Maison 28, in the heart of Marrakech's Medina. Guests at Maison 28 are treated to beautifully appointed surroundings, multiple roof top decks and homemade food and beverages. Maison 28 is ideally located in the most central part of the Marrakech Medina, within minutes walk to the famous Marrakech souks, historical sites, museums, gardens, and a wide variety of the highest rated restaurants. Of course no trip Morocco is complete without time in the souks shopping for treasure, so there will be ample time to meet local artisans and hunt for one of a kind items you cannot leave Marrakech without.
Tying together the entire experience in Morocco will be our art practice. The retreat includes multiple days of studio instruction on how to hand dyed textiles and we will spend time everyday capturing the magic of our surroundings in our artist sketchbooks.
You will return home having created a once in a lifetime travel journal and learned the art of hand dyeing inspired by the beauty and colors of Morocco. Some of our hand dyed textiles, made in the Marrakech studio space, will be delivered to artisans to be sewn into pillows during our stay and there are lots of items to be found in the Souks that are perfect for dyeing.
