Solar Eclipse Tour Egypt 2027 by Cruise and Rail

Embark on an extraordinary 10-day adventure through Egypt, highlighted by the once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse on August 2, 2027. Begin in Cairo, where you’ll explore the capital’s fascinating treasures before boarding an overnight train to Sohag to visit the sacred Temple of Abydos, legendary cult center of Osiris. The trip will run July 30th to August 8th.

From Sohag, continue south to Luxor for the centerpiece of your journey: witnessing the solar eclipse. Experiencing this rare celestial event against the timeless backdrop of Upper Egypt will be an awe-inspiring moment, blending natural wonder with ancient history.

Following the eclipse, step aboard your Nile cruise, sailing in comfort from Luxor to Aswan. Along the way, marvel at the monumental Karnak Temple Complex, the graceful Luxor Temple, and the royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings. Your voyage continues with visits to the Temple of Horus at Edfu and the twin temple of Kom Ombo, before reaching Aswan to explore the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk, and the enchanting Philae Temple. An optional excursion to the awe-inspiring Abu Simbel offers one of Egypt’s greatest treasures.

Conclude your journey with an overnight train back to Cairo and transfer to the airport. This remarkable experience weaves together Egypt’s eternal wonders with the rare spectacle of a total solar eclipse — a journey truly unlike any other.

The Rail Experience

Traveling by rail has its own special charm, especially when it carries a touch of classic elegance.

And what could be more enchanting than a journey to Ancient Egypt? It awakens memories of the great expeditions and discoveries of the past century, recalling the travels of writer Agatha Christie, explorer Howard Carter, and other legendary adventurers.

That’s why our program includes travel between Cairo and Upper Egypt by Sleeper Train, adding a sense of authenticity and history to your journey. Fortunately, this year the Egyptian National Railways has renewed its trains, transforming them into an experience reminiscent of the classic carriages of old—while offering the highest standards of comfort.

Cabins are thoughtfully designed, and dining cars are crafted from luxurious ebony wood with rich, timeless tones.

A unique experience that completes your journey from the Pyramids to Aswan, echoing the footsteps of early travellers like Agatha Christie. Dinner and breakfast are served in your cabin in refined style, with drinks available in the café car at an extra charge
