Take Me Home: The Music of John Denver
About Jim Curry
After being awarded a full Rotary International scholarship to study music and voice and being selected to sing as the voice of John Denver in the CBS Television Movie “Take Me Home, the John Denver Story,” there was no doubt that Jim Curry would continue to sing the praises and songs of America’s Troubadour – John Denver. As a lifelong fan, Curry dedicated himself to continuing John Denver’s legacy of songs and his message of love and caring for our planet to future generations.
Since 2002, the combined talents of Jim and his band have brought John’s Music back to thousands upon thousands of people. Jim is honored to have had John Denver band members join him in some of the country’s most prestigious venues. Curry also works behind the scenes to preserve Denver’s music. Most notable is Jim’s collaboration with Lee Holdridge in rebuilding and preserving Denver’s original symphony arrangements.
Jim Curry was a key performer in the induction of John Denver to the Colorado Music Hall of Fame show hosted by Olivia Newton-John. Curry was also the host of the official John Denver Estate show, which toured the United States and Australia.
Jim’s latest project, titled “Such a Wild Place,” was produced by two of John Denver’s band members, Pete Huttlinger and Chris Nole. It includes four original songs co-written by Jim Curry, as well as three unreleased songs written by John Denver.

Surrounded by mountains, waterways, and dense rainforest, Juneau delivers classic “Alaska postcard” moments. Known for glaciers and wildlife—perfect for stirring creativity between musical sessions. Fun Fact: Juneau is known for its midnight sun. On the longest day of the year, there are 18 hours and 18 minutes of full daylight.
A historic Gold Rush town that feels frozen in time. Wooden boardwalks, old-time saloons, mountains, and storytelling galore—Skagway feels like a lyric waiting to happen.
Skagway is famous for the discovery of gold in the late 1800’s. The Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park is not to be missed.
Be sure to try fresh Alaskan salmon, rich in flavor, and indulge in succulent crab legs, a local delicacy. Don't miss the wild berries, perfect for a sweet treat.
Top Shore Excursions:
White Pass & Yukon Route Railway
Gold Panning and Sled Dog Puppies
Rainforest Adventure Hikes
Fun Fact: Skagway is named after the native word for "Windy Place."
A day of pure awe as your ship glides between icy blue glaciers and snow‑draped mountains. Rangers often come aboard to narrate the journey. Listen for the thunderous “white thunder” of calving ice.
Glacier Day Tips:
Whether you’re visiting Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier, or Tracy Arm, try this:
Head to the forward observation deck early to claim a good spot.
Bring a warm drink and sit outside for at least part of the approach.
Use binoculars to look for:
mountain goats
calving ice
seals on floating bergs
Tip: If your ship has a naturalist or ranger on board, listen to the commentary—it’s worth it.
Fun Fact: There are no roads into the park—visitors arrive via boat, cruise ship, or plane, making the experience feel remote and wild.
Known as the “Salmon Capital of the World,” Ketchikan brings coastal Alaska charm with totem poles, rainforest, and colorful stilted buildings. Thanks to its abundant rainfall, Ketchikan is surrounded by some of the world's most lush wilderness. Its Tlingit Indian name, Kach Khanna, means “spread wings of the eagle.” Chances are you'll see one of these magnificent birds perched atop a Sitka tree during your Alaska cruise to Ketchikan (Ward Cove). Ketchikan is known as Alaska's "first city" because of its geographic location at the tip of the Inside Passage.
Top Shore Excursions
The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show
Salmon Capital of the World
Flightseeing through the Misty Fjords
Fishing trips & Dungeness Crab feasts
Fun Fact: Locals rarely use umbrellas because they consider Ketchikan's frequent rain as "liquid sunshine."

Top Shore Excursions:
Butchart Gardens
