Day 1

Chamonix - Lac Blanc - Les Contamines

You will begin your journey with a bus ride to Tré-le-Champ and walk toward Lac Blanc, one of the most iconic viewpoints on the Tour du Mont Blanc. The trail winds through the Aiguilles Rouges Nature Reserve, offering breathtaking panoramas of the Mont Blanc massif. A short section with metal ladders adds a touch of adventure before reaching the lake. After taking in the views, you will descend to La Flégère, where a cable car brings you down to the valley. A bus will then take you to Les Contamines for the night.

Les Contamines - Les Chapieux - Bourg Saint Maurice

Today’s walk will follow an ancient Roman route through lush alpine meadows and rocky terrain as you ascend to the Col du Bonhomme and further to the Col de la Croix du Bonhomme. The route offers sweeping views of the Beaufortain Alps and remote highland scenery. After reaching the col, the trail descends into the quiet valley of Les Chapieux. From here, you will take a bus to Bourg Saint Maurice, where you will spend the night.

Bourg Saint Maurice - Les Chapieux - Courmayeur

You will begin with a bus drive from Bourg Saint Maurice to Les Chapieux and then another one to the start of the climb toward Col de la Seigne, marking the border between France and Italy. The ascent reveals views of glacial valleys and snow-capped summits. After reaching the col, the trail descends into the dramatic Val Veny, passing below the towering Glacier de la Lex Blanche and the remote Rifugio Elisabetta. From the valley floor, a bus will take you to Courmayeur.

Day 4

Courmayeur - La Fouly - Champex Lac

From Courmayeur, a morning bus will take you to Arnuva in Val Ferret. The trail then climbs to the Grand Col Ferret, where the border with Switzerland offers vast views across three countries. A gentle descent leads into the Swiss Val Ferret, where green pastures and wooden chalets dot the landscape. Once you arrive in La Fouly, you will then take a bus to Orsieres and the lakeside village of Champex to rest for the night.

Day 5

Champex Lac - Trient - Chamonix

The final stage begins with a peaceful forest walk above Champex, gradually opening to views of the Rhone Valley. You will cross alpine pastures on the Bovine Route, a traditional path used by cattle herders, and reach the Col de la Forclaz. From here, the trail descends into the colourful village of Trient, from where you will return back to Chamonix with a combination of bus, & train rides completing your journey around Mont Blanc.
