From the Picard Beach Cottages (PBC) located in the north of the island, land or marine-based excursions can be arranged, i.e. on island adventures, whale watching, snorkeling, wellness experiences, among many others. The Dominica Tours DMC and the PBC teams would be happy to give you guidance, as there are many interesting sites to visit and adventures/activities to experience.
For your information, Dominica's Signature Whale Watching half day excursions depart at 9am every Wednesday and Saturday from the Portsmouth Beach Hotel in the north, located next to the Picard Beach Cottages; and other terrestrial tours and activities can be arranged. Massages, Yoga classes and/or other wellness services can be offered by our partner Wellness Practitioners at the spa, or in the comfort of your cottage or in the property's gardens, depending on the hotel(s) that you select.

Picard Beach Cottages, Dominica’s only locally-owned beachside bungalow cottages, offers 18 comfortable, hardwood Beachfront and Beach view Cottages. The quaint, beach-side, Caribbean style cottages overlook Dominica's longest beach, Prince Rupert Bay. Whether you are staying in a Beachfront or Beach view cottage, you are only steps away from the water.
Depending on your time of arrival, dinner can be ordered and served in your cottage upon arrival from the onsite or nearby restaurants. There are stores and a mini supermarket in walking distance. Should you wish to have some provisioning done prior to your arrival, this can be easily arranged at a standard cost.
Your Beachfront Cottage is equipped with a Queen-sized Bed, full bathroom with tub, day bed/sofa in living room, kitchenette with dining area, fold-out desk with fabulous sea view, patio overlooking the beach, with fan and air conditioning.
Traditionally crafted and tastefully decorated with comfortable, modern amenities, your rustic wooden cottage is furnished with a full kitchenette including stove with oven, fridge/freezer, coffee/tea maker, microwave, as well as iron and ironing board and free wifi.
Enjoy the sounds of nature as the waves lull you to sleep... bask in the star-lit nights as you stroll barefoot along the beach appreciating the night's lights and sounds... Start your day with a canoe ride up the Indian River, a former route of the indigenous Kalinago tribe, and one of the locations of the film "Pirates of the Caribbean".
Visit the historic Fort Shirley, where you will walk through a restored fort, brilliantly spearheaded and managed by our dear Lennox, and learn about the battle of the Saintes and about much more... Enjoy Creole Lunch of your choice at a nearby restaurant en route... End your day with a visit to the Cold Soufriere.

Enjoy Anchorage's "Signature" Whale Watch Excursions, departing every Wednesday and Saturday at 9am. Join Dominica's Dive & Whale Watch Pioneers on one of their comfortable 60ft or 75ft catamarans for simply the best whale watching on island! If lucky, meet with our famous and highly talented Whale Whisperer, Andrew, who often leads whale watching and highly regulated "Swim with the Whales" research expeditions.
Spend the rest of the day relaxing on the beach just steps away from your cottage... or indulge in some rejuvenating Wellness treatments... massage, Yoga, manicure/pedicure, reflexology... all arranged by Dominica Tours or easily booked via the front desk.

Experience the Kalinago Territory, home of the Caribbean's First People.
Visit the legendary l’Escalier Tête Chien, and the model village by the sea "Kalinago Barana Auté". Enjoy a traditional lunch at one of the local restaurants, after which you will drive along the Horse Back Ridge, offering panoramic vistas of the Atlantic Ocean, the mountainous interior and the expanse of the indigenous reservation.
At an additional small cost, the tour can continue with a hike to and swim at the Charles Warner Falls.

We'd be delighted to assist you in planning an independent itinerary or if you rather, we would be happy to plan other guided adventures and tours.
You may also choose to hike sections of the Waitukubuli National Trail for which you'd need a specialist guide. The Waitukubuli Trail in Dominica is a community led initiative enabling tourists to hike the length of the country in about two weeks. Divided into 14 sections, you can do one a day, and of course you don't have to hike the entire trail. Take a guide with you and embrace this wonderfully wild way.
Or you may enjoy simply relaxing, pampering yourselves with spa/wellness treatments, booking a private sunset cruise or indulging fully in your Nature Island experience to your hearts' delight...
