DAY 1 | Lima

Arrive at Lima Airport. A transportation service and a guide will pick you up from the airport at the scheduled
time to transfer you to your hotel in Lima. The Peruvian capital is a modern metropolis full of history, currently
undergoing an exciting process of cultural and economic changes.

DAY 2 | Lima - Madre de Dios 1

Flight to Puerto Maldonado 
The employees of the lodge will pick you up from the airport and after a short stop at the Corto Maltés (Corto
Maltese) offices, you will board a boat that will take you to the Corto Maltés Lodge during a 40-minute trip.
After enjoying a welcome drink and getting installed in your bungalow, you will have lunch and then you will
hike for three hours to see a great variety of medicinal plants, tropical trees and insects. You will go to the
scenic viewpoint before dusk to watch the toucans, and you will take a nighttime tour after the sunset to look
for caimans.
*Only medium-size luggage is allowed during your accommodation in the lodges of Puerto Maldonado, The
maximum luggage weight allowed in is 10kg (22lb). During your stay, larger luggage will remain stored.

DAY 3 | Madre de Dios 2

Wake up at 5:30 am for some coffee or tea before leaving for Lake Sandoval. Your guide will hand out a
breakfast snack for the excursion. After roughly 20 minutes of navigation on the river Madre de Dios, arrival at
the landing stage of Lake Sandoval. During a 3 km hike through the exuberant vegetation, we will enter the
territory of Tambopata National Reserve, where you will have the chance to admire giant trees, snakes,
monkeys (squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys and capuchin monkeys) and various birds (notably the Hoatzin
also known as the stinkbird, kingfishers and snakebirds). Once on Lake Sandoval, navigate in small rowing
boats, searching for the giant otters. We will also have the possibility to spot caimans, piranhas and a variety of
birds. Stop at a rest area, a construction with hammocks, lavatories and a bar, where you can have breakfast,
rest and gain energy to continue the trek to Monkey Island (optional visit subject to seasonal availability).
Return to the Lodge for lunch. Visit of one of the two lookout towers of Corto Maltès Amazonía, with a height
of 20 and 42 meters and designed for birdwatching and viewing of other types of animals living at this altitude.
In addition, you will enjoy an incredible view of the sunset. Have some free time to enjoy the pool or have a
massage, get refreshed at the bar or visit the souvenir shop. Finally, dinner will be served.

DAY 4 | Madre de Dios 3
HOTEL NIGHT 4
After a 20 minute boat trip down the river, we arrive at the chacra, a local farm owned by a typical family of
the agricultural region, where domestic plants are carefully cultivated, without the use of chemicals, and which
are later offered at the main market in Puerto Maldonado. We will distinguish and even taste different tropical
fruits of the season and other domestic products (cacao, banana, cocona, breadfruit, noni, manioc, lime). Next
we are received by a native family, who will show us some of their customs and demonstrate their main
activities, that is fishing, hunting and handicraft, passed on by their ancestors from various indigenous tribes of
the Rainforest. You will learn about some natural products and how they are used to manufacture tools,
dwellings, clothing and ornaments, playing an important role in the family´s everyday life. The visit ends with
an outdoor lunch, being an unique experience, both for the family and their guests. Return to Corto Maltes.
Finally, dinner will be served.

DAY 5 | Madre de Dios – Cusco

Wake up at 5:30 am for some coffee or tea before leaving for a 20 minutes’ walk to the clay lick, where you
will have the possibility to observe 3 to 5 types of parrots. The parrots come to the clay lick to ingest a
particular kind of clay, to be found in certain areas of this region, and vital for the regulation of their
metabolism. A colorful and veritable delightful and exciting event. After breakfast, head to the city of Puerto
Maldonado. One there, visit the local market where the population supplies itself with food and other
products. During a short visit, you will be able to appreciate the different typical products of the area. We will
then head to the airport for the check-in and registration of your respective flights.
Flight to Cusco
Enjoy a comfortable transfer from Cusco Airport to your hotel. A representative will meet and greet you, and
then transfer you to the selected hotel in Cusco.

DAY 6 | Cusco – Machu Picchu

A vehicle and a representative will pick you up from the selected hotel and transfer you to the train station.
Take the vistadome train to Aguas Calientes.
Upon your arrival to Aguas Calientes, you will be transferred to your hotel in Aguas Calientes, to rest for the
rest of the day.

DAY 7 | Machu Picchu – Cusco

After having breakfast today, you’ll make a visit to Machu Picchu and visit any of the attractions that
the citadel has in store. You may visit the Intipunku, which means ;Gateway of the Sun gate; in Spanish and it is the
last stop before entering Machu Picchu, if the Inca trail is followed from Ollantaytambo. It was a sort of
guardhouse and the Sun rises everyday through this gate if it is observed from the most important buildings of
the citadel.
In the afternoon, you will go the Aguas Calientes train station to take your train back to Cusco City.
