As of May 1, 2022, visitors to Colombia ages 18 or older will need to provide proof of complete vaccination for entry or a negative COVID test (48 hours in advance of travel for an antigen test or 72 hours in advance of travel for a PCR test). Travelers should be prepared to show their original, physical vaccination card or digital certificate both at airline check-in and when passing through Colombian Immigration. The vaccination document must include the individual’s full name, date of vaccination, name of the vaccine administered, and the number of doses administered. A photo of one’s vaccination card may not be accepted. If you completed your vaccination scheme within 14 days before entry to Colombia you will also need to have an antigen test 48 hours prior to arrival or a PCR test 72 hours prior to arrival in Colombia.
Travelers must complete Migración Colombia’s online Check-Mig form within 72 hours of boarding an inbound or outbound flight from Colombia. If the normal form’s website is down travelers can find a contingency website here.

This afternoon we will take a tour that immerses us into the local culture of Cartagena. We will learn about music, food, people, customs and beliefs.
Visit traditional neighborhoods to understand the city from a geographic, cultural, social and economic point of view, including the picturesque/working class neighborhood called “GETSEMANI” (where we will appreciate its interesting history and culture depicted through murals, graffiti and of course its people).

After breakfast, we will take at tour to learn about a village that was established by Africans who escaped from slavery in the 1600’s where there are many ancient African practices still alive including a language (Bantú, that was mixed with Spanish and portuguese), traditional music and dances, way of living, customs, traditional medicine and spiritual beliefs.
This village was declared by UNESCO a” world cultural heritage site” in 2005 and it is home of the first world boxing champion, Antonio Cervantes “Kid Pambele” and first Afro-Colombian movie actor “Evaristo Marquez”, who made a movie with Marlon Brando in 1968 called La quemada.
The tour starts with a walking tour around the community of Palenque,visit to a local home to learn about the family and their fruit-based candy business, interaction with the natives,visit to the school of music and arts for a performance of a traditional music group and traditional dances (monetary donation is suggested for the school), information on the history of the town and how the locals were able to escape from their captors being helped by their leader BENKOS BIOHO (who organized escapes just like the brave Harriet Tubman in the US) and how African men were supported by their own women who built maps and roads in their hair braiding to get oriented in the woods and make it to the village where they would make it to freedom.

Are you ready to island hop?
After breakfast, we will take a boat ride to Rosario Islands.
The Rosario Islands are a highlight of Colombia’s Caribbean Coast, famous for
their vibrant marine life, pristine white beaches, and sun-soaked beach resorts.
Take part on this journey to the national/natural park called “The Rosario Islands” as well as a visit to the party beach called “Cholón”, where boats meet and start the party. After that, we will have lunch at the Island of Baru then stop at Playa blanca beach where we stay until we depart back to the city.
