Arrival, Retreat Orientation & Sunset

Welcome!

Our adventure will begin in Phoenix. We'll have a group airport pickup around noon before departing for lunch in Old Town Scottsdale.

Noon: Airport/Hotel Pickups - Scheduled pickup from the 44th PHX SkyTrain Station. We will greet you in the parking lot as you exit the 44th Street Station. If you're arriving early and staying at a hotel, we can also pick you up from there.

12:30 pm: Lunch/Grocery Stop—We will stop to grab lunch and last-minute items for the trip before heading to Sedona.

You will have approximately one hour to explore Scottsdale's famous 5th Street shopping. Since the retreat officially begins at the welcome orientation, lunch will be on your own this day.

After lunch, we will make the approximately two-hour scenic drive to the retreat home in Sedona. We plan to arrive around 4:00 pm.

2:00 pm: Depart Lunch stop for retreat home in Sedona

We'll get settled upon arrival and begin our retreat with a sunset yoga session and welcome orientation. During this orientation, we will review the daily retreat schedule and set expectations for the weekend. We'll finish the evening with a group dinner.

4:30 pm: Evening Yoga

6:30 pm: Welcome Orientation

7:00 pm: Group Dinner

Day 2

Day 2 image

Devils Bridge & Chapel of the Holy Cross

We'll start with yoga first thing in the morning, followed by a rich breakfast buffet and a full day of hiking in beautiful Sedona.

7:30 am: Morning Yoga

8:30 am: Breakfast & Pack Lunches for Hiking

10:00 am: Hiking time in Sedona

After breakfast, we'll pack our lunches, depart the retreat home at 10:00 am sharp, and head to Devils Bridge Trail Head. We'll drop you off at the trailhead.

The hike to Devil's Bridge is a 6-mile round trip (3 miles out and 3 miles back) and usually takes about 60 minutes in each direction, not accounting for the time spent at the bridge. The hike is well-marked and straightforward (and open with wide trails) until the last quarter mile when it gets steeper and more challenging. Since the Devil's Bridge is such a Sedona icon, it is known to get very crowded and incur hour-long wait times once you arrive at the photo spot.

Fun fact: Although Devil's Bridge is over 50 feet high with drop-offs on each side, it is 5 feet wide at its narrowest. So, if you can walk down a hallway (4 feet wide) without bumping into the walls, chances are good Devils Bridge won't be a problem for you. Looking at it while waiting in line is more unnerving than walking on it.

After enjoying the view, you can resume your hike back down. From there, we'll pick you up and head to the Chapel of the Holy Cross to see this unique church built into the side of the red rocks. We will plan on spending about 30 minutes here.

After finishing the last hike, we'll return to the retreat home for showers and evening yoga. We'll finish the day with a delicious home-cooked meal as a group.

4:30 pm: Evening Yoga

7:00 pm: Group Dinner

Day 3

Wellness Morning & Cathedral Rock

7:30 am: Morning Yoga or Optional Excursion (see below)

9:00 am: Breakfast & Pack Lunches for Hiking

We'll start the day with a morning yoga session, followed by a delicious home-cooked breakfast and packing our lunches.

Those interested can take several popular early-morning excursions. You can hike Soldiers Pass Trail, book a hot-air balloon ride, enjoy a Pink Jeep Tour, take an exhilarating helicopter ride, or spend some time shopping in Sedona.

If you are interested in booking any of these optional activities, you should make reservations in advance.  We can provide pick-up and drop-off for any of these optional activities.  Please note these activities are NOT included in the price of the retreat.

Soldiers Pass Trail

The Birthing Cave

Hot Air Balloon

Helicopter

Pink Jeep Tour

Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village

In the afternoon, we will head to Cathedral Rock as a group. Cathedral Rock is a 2.4-mile (1.2 miles out and 1.2 miles back) trail that will take approximately 45 minutes to an hour in each direction.

This hike is challenging, but it is worth it and is often described as one of the most fun experiences in Sedona. It has significant elevation changes, and you won't be able to complete it without putting your hands on the ground and scrambling a little. Fortunately, there are great flat area stopping points periodically with panoramic views. Take as many breaks as you need on the way to the top.

After this hike, we will drive to the Red Rock Crossing for a photo opportunity before returning to the retreat home.

1:00 pm: Group Departure for Cathedral Rock

4:30 pm: Evening Yoga

7:00 pm: Group Dinner

West Fork Trail & Birthing Cave, Airport Mesa Vortex

7:30 am: Morning Yoga

8:30 am: Breakfast & Pack Lunches for Hiking

10:00 am:  Depart for the Birthing Cave

Today is a full Sedona classic. We will start with yoga and breakfast, then head out for a short morning stop at the Birthing Cave before our longer hike on the West Fork Trail in Sedona.

This Trail is an easy-to-moderate hike that offers jaw-dropping views throughout. Picnic tables, toilets, and trash cans are available for use. This is about a 7-mile hike; it has a steady incline you don't really notice, and the hike goes by rather quickly. This is by far the most uniquely beautiful hike Sedona has to offer. Every part of this hike is stunning, from the red rocks that reach up to the sky to the greenery decorating the creekside. The West Fork Trail, located in Oak Creek Canyon near Sedona, Arizona, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and accessibility.

Trail Overview:

  • Length: Approximately 7.2 miles (out and back) or about 8 miles round trip, depending on the route you take

  • Elevation Gain: Roughly 820 feet.

  • Type: Out and back trail, with multiple creek crossings—precisely, thirteen crossings of Oak Creek.

  • Difficulty: Generally considered easy to moderate, it is suitable for beginners and more experienced hikers.

Hiking Duration:

The average hiker takes about three hours to complete the round trip on the West Fork Trail. Some sources suggest a slightly longer duration of up to 3.5 hours, especially if you plan to enjoy the scenery or explore beyond the maintained sections of the trail.

Trail Features:

  • The trail is characterized by its shaded paths, flowing streams, and towering canyon walls, providing a picturesque hiking experience throughout the year.

  • Hikers should be prepared for wet conditions due to the creek crossings; waterproof footwear is recommended.

  • The first 3.5 miles are well-maintained and relatively flat, while beyond this point, the trail becomes less defined and more rugged, appealing to those seeking a bit more adventure.

After the Westfork Trail, we will make a quick stop at the Airport Mesa Vortex for independent meditation, reflection, and a short walk. You will have free time to explore this fascinating Vortex. We will be here for approximately 30 minutes.
After the Vortex, we will return to the retreat home for evening yoga.

4:30 pm: Evening Yoga

7:00 pm: Group Dinner

Day 5

Day 5 image

Amitabha Stupa & Peace Park; Departure

9:00 am: Breakfast

10:00 am: We'll check out of the retreat home.

10:30 am: We will make a quick stop at Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park for independent meditation, reflection, and a short walk. You will have free time to explore this 0.3-mile loop trail. We will be here for approximately 30 minutes.

The Buddhist Amitabha Stupa is an outdoor venue for prayer, meditation, and spiritual renewal for people of all faiths. In the park, you will find two Buddhist stupas, a Native American medicine wheel, an exquisite wooden statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, and numerous quiet spots for meditation and contemplation.

You will experience peace in a quiet, sacred setting. Then, we'll make the approximately 2-hour drive back to the Phoenix airport to say goodbye.

1:00 pm: Airport drop off at PHX.

If you are flying out today, please plan to depart after 3:00 pm.
