Subsequently, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the nearby local marketplace, just a short distance from the hotel. This marketplace features a craft bazaar showcasing authentic Bhutanese arts and crafts.
Following a delightful breakfast in the world's happiest country, your day will commence with a visit to Bhutan's oldest monastery, Pangri Zampa, established in the 16th century. This historical site now functions as a school where aspiring Buddhist monks study Lamaism and astrology rooted in Buddhist philosophy.
Next on the itinerary is a stop at the Bhutan Heritage Museum, showcasing the fading glory of ancient Bhutanese architecture amidst the encroachment of modernization. A particular highlight here is a visit to the Institute for Zorig Chusum, also known as the Arts & Crafts School, offering a comprehensive six-year curriculum on the 13 traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan.
After a fulfilling lunch at one of Thimphu's local eateries, the tour will proceed to Buddha Point, home to the country's largest Buddha statue, providing awe-inspiring vistas of the Thimphu Valley.
The sightseeing will then take you to Tashichho Dzong, known as the "Fortress of the Glorious Religion," serving as the heart of government and religion. Originally built in 1641 by Bhutan's unifier, Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, this significant structure was reconstructed in the 1960s employing traditional Bhutanese methods—without the use of nails or architectural plans.
Indulge in a delightful breakfast at the hotel.
Embark on a breathtaking journey, making a few scenic stops, as you traverse the mountain pass of Dochu La (3,080m) en route to Punakha. The route winds through dense forests of oak and rhododendron trees, offering glimpses of the majestic Himalayan peaks visible from the coach windows.
The highway follows the picturesque Dang Chhu and leads through forested areas, pausing briefly at Dochula Pass for a magnificent view of the eastern Himalayan Range.
Upon reaching Punakha, take a brief rest before exploring Punakha Dzong, erected in 1637 at the confluence of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers by the unifier Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. This fortress serves as the area's historical and administrative hub.

In the early hours of the morning, hike through vegetable fields and agricultural lands to reach Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. This structure was erected with the purpose of dispelling negative energies and fostering peace, stability, and harmony in the ever-changing world. Positioned with a commanding view over the Mo Chhu river, the Chorten reigns over the upper Punakha Valley.
Afternoon activities commence with a journey to Talo village, situated above the Punakha Valley on a plateau, offering majestic vistas across the valley. The village is adorned with charming farmhouses where an abundance of flowers, corn, and sweet peas flourish.
Following this, a visit to the Nalanda Buddhist College, locally known as 'Dalayna' while referred to as 'Nalanda Buddhist College' by the resident monks, fills the afternoon. Spend time savoring buttered tea while enjoying a spectacular view and engaging in conversations with the monks.
Concluding the day's itinerary, take a brief drive to a hilltop, passing extensive terrace farms and vibrant orchards, to reach the Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Lhakhang nunnery.
