Russian River Ferry
We will take a ride on the world-famous Russian River Ferry is located at the confluence of the Russian and Kenai Rivers on Alaska’s beautiful Kenai Peninsula. The ferry services one of the most productive salmon sport fishing areas in all of North America. Followed by a short hike along the river for wildlife watching.
Exit Glacier Hike
We will then hike right up to the Kenai Fjords National Park's Exit Glacier and experience the dense, blue ice while listening to it crackle.
One of the most visited glaciers in the world, Exit Glacier earned its name from grateful backcountry travelers. It descends about 3,000 feet in just a few miles, forming a stunning, natural ramp for mountaineers exiting the immense Harding Icefield. Its hard ice—fluted and crevassed—is close to a visitor center in the only portion of Kenai Fjords National Park that’s accessible by road. The setting has a primeval feel—scoured bedrock, craggy ice, rushing water, and a flourishing new forest with towering cottonwoods above jungled thickets.

Scenic Drive Along The Turnagain Arm
We will take a scenic drive along the famous Turnagain Arm.
Just south of Anchorage, the Seward Highway hugs the dramatic shorelines of Turnagain Arm, arguably one of the most beautiful stretches of highway in America. Chugach State Park's 3000-foot mountains jut up on your left.
On the right, the sprawling, sometimes four-mile-wide flats of Turnagain Arm seem to stretch like a plain to the opposite shores of Cook Inlet, where mammoth sloping mountains abruptly stop their flat expanse. Each turn reveals another scenic wonder.
Day hike to Byron Glacier
Byron Glacier descends from the same ice field that feeds both Portage Glacier on the lake and Blackstone Glacier in Prince William Sound. The trail is a real-time demonstration of how an ecosystem rebounds from the ice age, with large trees and forest giving way to alder thickets, which in turn morph into lichen-dotted rock only recently exposed by retreating ice. The upper valley is rugged and raw—with silt-blackened debris covering ice—offering an austere feel for authentic glacial terrain, as though you were on an adventure deep in Alaska’s coastal backcountry.
Evening in Hope
In the evening will be having dinner at the Historic Hope Cafe (formerly know as the Sea View Cafe) and enjoying live music in Hope!
We will explore the shoreline of the Turnagain Arm and enjoy a short morning hike prior to departing camp in Hope.
We will then take the scenic drive back to Anchorage.
