About your trip

Explore Jordan, a fascinating country full of historical and religious significance, great food, lots of adventure, and incredibly warm people. Many people think of only Petra when they think of Jordan but this small country is so much more!

Join a group of like minded women travelers as we traverse the country, exploring such places as Amman, Salt, Wadi Rum, Jerash, Petra and the Dead Sea. We will have a mix of culture, history, adventure, food & wine, and loads of fun!

This trip is a small group of only 10-15 women travelers with a full time host throughout the trip.

Fun Women Travel was founded with an understanding of the deep sense of community most women feel when in the company of like minded women.

Fun Women Travel Groups are for women who like to travel but may not always solo. Fun women travel with an open heart and a curious mind. Fun women leave unnecessary baggage behind. Fun women travel with a heart full of the company of like minded women travelers.

Fun Women Travel groups have partnered with women-owned or women-managed partners (or partners with a proven track record of empowering women) to create culturally immersive itineraries in interesting destinations. All trips are small (10-15 ladies), have at least one experience with women citizens in the destination, and have some fun experiences thrown in to push our boundaries just a little!

Exploring Amman and a Cooking Class

Today, we will tour the lovely, historical city of Amman.

We will visit King Abdullah Mosque (the Blue Mosque), the Citadel, the Roman Theater, and local markets.

As a part of all Fun Women Travel trips,  we will spend time with a local women's organization. Today, we will have the opportunity to spend time with the Jordan River Foundation, founded by Queen Nour Al Hussein. JRF is a local nonprofit foundation dedicated to empowering women and children.

If you choose, shopping is available but not required!!!! All items are made by the women of the community.

Tonight, we will gather to learn to make some traditional Jordanian foods and learn more about the different cultures that influence the delicious cuisine of Jordan. After we have created these great dishes, we will join with our new friends for the tasty meal we have prepared.

Exploring Jerash and As-Salt, Wine Tasting Dinner

We will start our day with a visit to Jerash, the largest Roman ruins outside of Rome.

Jerash is a close second to Petra on the list of favorite destinations in Jordan and one of the best places to explore Roman civilization outside of Italy. Inhabited since the Bronze Age, Jerash is known for the ruins of the walled Greco-Roman settlement of Gerasa just outside the modern city. These include the 2nd-century Hadrian's Arch, the Corinthian columns of the Temple of Artemis and the huge Forum's oval colonnade. Don't forget to ask about the secret speaking spot when you are there.

In the afternoon, we will visit the lovely and authentic town of As Salt. The town was an important trading center during the Ottoman Empire and retains the sense of time in its beautiful architecture. As-Salt was recently named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

While there, we will walk the Harmony Trail which takes us to all of the important sites to see.

We will join a local woman who runs a home restaurant in As-Salt for lunch.

After returning to Amman, we will enjoy a lovely wine tasting and dinner on the Boulevard in downtown Amman. You will be pleasantly surprised at the award winning wines of Jordan!

Exploring Mount Nebo & Madaba, An Evening in Petra

Today, we check out and say goodbye to our friends at the W Amman.

Today, we will start with a trip to Mount Nebo, the spiritual resting place of Moses and the celebration of three major religions. Religious or not, this place is a beautiful celebration of an iconic cultural figure as well as a place steeped in history and beauty.

From Mount Nebo, we will venture into the lovely town of Madaba where we will have lunch at one of my favorite family restaurants. Even George and Laura Bush rank it as one of their all-time favorites!

After filling ourselves with amazing food, we will make our way to the world famous (for good reason!) historic town of Petra.

We will check into the lovely 5* Old Village Hotel & Resort in the town of Petra.

We will share a dinner at the resort and then prepare for evening activities.

Be prepared for a magical evening as we experience Petra at night. Lit by hundreds of candles, we have the chance to experience this ancient city as it was long ago. This is a truly unforgettable and magical experience. There is nothing that can compare to this experience.

Exploring Petra

Today, we will have a chance to experience all of the beauty and history that is Petra. For all you may have seen or read, nothing quite prepares you for the unbelievable majesty of this ancient city carved into the rocks.

We will have some guided time and then free time to explore the city on our own.

Lunch is on your own. There are dining options in the city itself.

We can provide suggestions on where to explore during your free time in Petra.

After returning to the hotel, let's rest our feet and gather for a meal on the patio at our hotel before retiring after a most amazing day!

Little Petra, Quads in the Desert, Wadi Rum & a Private Bedouin Dinner

After breakfast, we will check out of Old Village.

Our first stop this mooning is at Little Petra. Often overlooked, Little Petra is another city carved into stone, a smaller version of its bigger sister.

More accessible in ways, have time to climb some stairs and imagine yourself as a Nubian in your Little Petra home!

Next, shake off that comfort zone and climb aboard a quad bike for a tour of the desert in Wadi Araba! Let's have some fun and travel like Fun Women do!

This is all about the fun!

We will shake ourselves off and head to the beautiful desert of Wadi Rum. Lawrence of Arabia staked a claim here for good reason!

With miles of red sand and endless night skies, we will explore and enjoy this incredible natural region of Jordan.

We will check into our "martian" tents in Sun City Camp in the red desert.

We will end our exciting day with a private bedouin dinner at camp. Let's experience the Bedouin culture tonight! With a traditional dinner and wine and music, this is sure to be a highlight of the Fun Women Travel Jordan experience!

Exploring Wadi Rum

After breakfast, we will check out of Sun City Camp.

Next, let's kick off our shoes, wrap our heads in scarves, and hop onto jeeps for a magical jeep tour of Wadi Rum!

We will have time to climb and slide and get photos on the magical natural rock formation know as Um Frouth Bridge.

Another highlight of the Fun Women Travel Jordan tour, this is time to let your hair down and have fun barefoot in the sand!

Next, we are off to the Dead Sea, land of myth and history.

We will check in to the Movenpick Resort and Spa and have a lovely evening to breath in the extra oxygen found in this magical place.

Free Day at the Dead Sea

Today, we will relax and savor the moments of our trip.

The Dead Sea is renowned for its medicinal and healing qualities. Float in the sea, get covered in therapeutic mud, relax by our pool, or opt for an optional spa treatment. Whatever you do, this is a time to relax and take time for yourself.

Tonight, we will break bread with our new and forever friends. Join us for a farewell dinner where we can laugh and share and reflect on an amazing Fun Women Travel trip!

Wine included.

After breakfast, we will check out of the Movenpick Resort & Spa.

You will be transferred to the airport in Amman for your return flight home.
