About your trip

Dominica is home to a large population of sperm whales, they live year round in this area. This is the best destinations in the world for sperm whale encounters, where the ocean conditions are mostly calm, visibility is clear and warm waters.


It is a snorkeling activity. Encounters may vary, sometimes they might be interested and playful, other encounters will last minutes.

Prerequisites & Recommendations

Every participant must be fit for swimming and snorkeling and in good health.  This is an active expedition and sometimes there will be a lot of swimming. We will be getting in and out of the water throughout the day. 


You will need to be able to climb up the ladder of the boat. 


No scuba certification required. 


Divers and non-divers alike. 


Expect to spend long hours on boats. 


Snorkeling is done in the open ocean, we recommend to bring good fins, a snorkel and a mask.

Flights

Fly to Dominica. You can fly directly from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Douglas Charles (DOM) formerly known as Melville Hall in Dominica Island. 


You can book a direct flight on American Airlines.


Flights to Dominica are two times a week. Make sure you book your flights accordingly.

We will get picked up at dock from hotel every morning

Spend the day searching for sperm whales (weather permitting) 

Only 4 people + guide will be allowed in the water at the same time.

We will get back in the afternoon (between 2:00-4:00 PM, time may vary depending on conditions and encounters.)

Note:  Other than our time on the water, everything is flexible. There’s no schedule after we arrive back at the hotel. You’re free to explore, if you want to have dinner on another part of the island, or at a different time. (Any extra activities are on your own and not included in the cost of the trip)
