It is suggested to depart your hometown on Thursday, September 18th to arrive on September 19th if you are traveling from the US.
More info on the Airport Information Resource Slide at the end of the itinerary.
Check-in or store your luggage at the historic guesthouse, walkable to all of the downtown attractions. Start your getaway by exploring with curated recommendations on how to explore Iceland's capital city.
At 7:00 PM join your fellow travelers for a Welcome Dinner to get to know one another before the exciting journey ahead.
Start your morning with the included breakfast at the guesthouse.
Your travel guide will be picking up the group to take you exploring through Iceland's southern coast, home to some of the most remarkable sites in Iceland.
Today you will see two phenomenal waterfalls, visit the famous black sand beach, and then you can choose to take on an adventure and hike on top of a glacier or explore a historical heritage museum.
The historical heritage museum is included in the price of your trip, or you can upgrade to the glacier hike for an extra adventure. The glacier hike is only a $150 add on upgrade.
Check out the heritage museum here.
The day will end back in Reykjavik where you will have the opportunity to explore the city and choose where you would like to have dinner.
This will be a full day away from the guesthouse.
Wake up with the included breakfast. Then choose how you would like to spend your day. Today you will have another opportunity to choose your own adventure.
Option 1 - Take a short drive just outside of the city to hike up the Reykjadalur valley*. The hike will lead you to a natural river up in the mountain and you will have the option to bathe in the natural hot springs. End the incredible experience with a picnic surrounded by nature.
The hike is approximately 4 miles in total roundtrip, it is considered an intermediate level hike. The hike in is about 1.5 hours through the mountain to the Reykjadalur valley. You will have plenty of time to rest before taking the 1.5 hour hike back down the mountain. We define an intermediate level hike as having around 800 meters of altitude gain and goes over unpaved roads. There is no technical skills required but it does require endurance and hiking up an incline.
Option 2 - Iceland is also famous for its public pools that are heated by the volcanic activity on the island. If you're not much of a hiker or prefer to explore Reykjavik further, you have an additional option to explore more of the country's downtown and surrounding areas with curated recommendations. Our top recommendation is to visit the famous local hot pool and cozy cafes.
The evening is open for the group to come together, explore further on your own, or simply relax back at the guesthouse.
Wake up in the cozy guesthouse with an early breakfast before departing for a full day of exploring off of Iceland's more popular paths.
Discover the breathtaking beauty of Iceland's Snæfellsnes Peninsula, a hidden gem that blends dramatic landscapes and serene coastal charm. Explore towering volcanic peaks, black pebble beaches, and iconic spots like Kirkjufell Mountain.
With your guide, you will wander through fishing villages, spot the majestic Snæfellsjökull glacier, and visit Ytri-Tunga to spot seals.
Today you will be a full day away from Reykjavik and the guesthouse for sightseeing. You will be in and out of the tour van through out the day and will have the opportunity to grab a picnic lunch.
This is a 10-hour tour so come prepared to explore, leaving the city behind.
Today is your last day in the stunning country of Iceland. Wake up early in the morning for one last breakfast.
Head back to the airport then take a quick 1.5 hour flight to the Faroe Islands.
Upon arriving in the Faroe Islands, head to a local market to pick up snacks and goodies for your stay. Then check into the magical cottages that will be our home for the next few days. These cottages were recently featured in a film as the setting for Neverland. You will truly feel in a magical place while being here.
After checking in, join the group for a unique lakeside dinner cruise with a waterfall viewing. The lakeside dinner cruise has a set menu, please let us know about any allergies prior to arriving.
Today, you will have the opportunity to relax in the gorgeous setting of our cottages for the entire morning. Then choose to explore on your own, take a sightseeing tour, or join your local guide for an epic hike over the top of a nearby mountain. This hike used to be the route of postmen prior to the connecting tunnel being built in 2006.
Today is one of your only opportunities to relax and enjoy the views. If you'd prefer to add more adventure to your trip you can add a guided hike for only $110 or add the sightseeing tour for $200.
The hike is an optional way to add an outdoor adventure to your experience in the Faroe Islands. We consider this hike a moderately strenuous hike that climbs up the side of a mountain. The hike takes approximately 3-3.5 hours in total. The weather changes rapidly during the hike so be ready for exemplary views, rainbows, and changing weather conditions.
Cherish defines a moderately strenuous hike as one with a long length, substantial elevation gain (about 3,000 ft or 1,000 meters), and/or difficult terrain. Suitable for hikers with endurance or those who are willing to challenge themselves.
After the mid-afternoon hike, the group will come back together for a group dinner at a family owned cafe.
Spend the day immersed in some of the most beautiful nature in our world. You will be site seeing through one of this country's most beautiful islands, Eysturoy – the villages Eiði, Gjógv, and Funningur.
After sightseeing join the group for a one-of-a-kind sauna experience with heat therapy. The sauna experience will take you from a hot environment inside the sauna with essential oils and you will have the opportunity to take a dip in the North Sea for the cold part of your heat therapy.
Tonight we will have an opportunity to cook together at the cottages for a group dinner or make our own meals after a full day of exploring.
Welcome back to Iceland! After a quick flight back from the Faroe Islands to Iceland your first stop will be visiting the iconic Blue Lagoon. Feel pampered with an included mud mask and a complimentary drink while bathing in the blue waters of the lagoon.
Make sure that your swimsuit and a change of clothes is accessible in your carry on luggage, you will check into the hotel after your visit to the Blue Lagoon. Any additional luggage can be stored safely in the tour van.
End your unforgettable journey with a relaxing evening at your luxurious 4-star boutique hotel, complete with a heated rooftop pool.
With every Cherish trip we like to regather to enjoy a final dinner, sharing memories and farewells with your newfound friends, as you celebrate the amazing experiences you've shared.
On your last morning, feel free to take your time and enjoy breakfast at the hotel.
The last hotel of the trip is conveniently located only 5-minutes drive from the international airport.
Your departure flight time is at your own leisure. Cherish's travel guide will coordinate with the departure transfer from the hotel to ensure you have a smooth departure back to the airport in time for your flight.
