Fly into Denpasar, Bali’s bustling capital. You’ll be met at the airport by one of our “Bali Family” and then taken (by private, air conditioned coach, of course) to Ubud, the beating  heart of the island.

Day 1 In addition to a full-time local guide on all tours and private transfers, Brenda Powell, Spirit Quest’s partner, will be with you every step of the way: sharing unique insights, spiritual guidance, and of course, the wisdom and peace of yoga….

We’ll be staying at the stunning Komaneka Rasa Sayang in Ubud. Dinner is a short walk, as you are already in the center of Ubud, or dine in the gorgeous hotel restaurant which features fresh, local, macrobiotic cuisine.

It’s an incredible locale – very Balinese, and extremely relaxing and peaceful. MORNING YOGA CLASS –Start the day with rejuvenating, restorative yoga in an open air class with your truly gifted teacher.

BESAKIH TEMPLE – THE MOTHER:

Next, we'll set off for an adventure to Besakih Temple, the largest and holiest temple in Bali. Our air-conditioned coach takes us through stunning landscapes as we make our way to this revered site. Along the way, we’ll stop to pick up traditional temple attire. Be sure to bring a white shirt to complete your outfit!

Arriving at Besakih Temple, on the slopes of Mount Agung, you’ll quickly see why it's such an important place for the Balinese people. Here, we have the unique opportunity to observe and even participate in local religious practices and ceremonies.

With a knowledgeable guide by our side, we'll wander through the temple grounds, taking in the soothing fragrance of incense and flowers. We’ll be part of an offering ceremony and follow the lead of the local priest in prayer. This experience is a window into the rich cultural heritage of Bali and gives us a deeper understanding of its traditions.

After the temple visit, we'll head to a nearby restaurant for a buffet lunch. Nestled in the mountains, the restaurant offers traditional Balinese dishes with stunning views of the surrounding area. It’s a moment to relax, enjoy good food, and reflect on the experiences of the day.

This day trip is not just a sightseeing excursion; it’s an immersion into the essence of Bali. With a visit to Besakih Temple at its core, you’ll leave with a richer understanding and appreciation of this incredible island.

BALINESE COOKING CLASS – meet at 08:00 at Casa Luna Restaurant where the chef and staff will greet you. Take a short walk to the vegetable market where you will browse the stalls with your guide- learning about the fresh spices, herbs and vegetables on sale. After your tour of the market, walk to the restaurant to commence the cooking. 

You’ll then meet in the kitchen, wearing black aprons, and begin your cooking. Not only will you discover the herbs, spices and techniques of Balinese cooking but you will also learn about the ceremonial and cultural significance of food in Balinese society. The menu changes daily and after preparing the lavish feast, sit down to enjoy the meal together with a glass or two of local rice wine or homemade hibiscus tea. 

In the afternoon, we step into the world of Balinese art. First, we visit Ayu Mas Painting Studio, where an array of paintings awaits. Appreciate the diverse brushwork and engage with the knowledgeable owner.

Our next stop is Bali Budaya Wood Carving Studio. Here, the mastery of Balinese craftsmanship is evident in the intricate carvings, from small treasures to large masterpieces.

Tonight, we say farewell to Ubud and get ready to head to the beach!
