About your trip

Dive into Argentina's rich Black History while discovering the vibrant food and art scenes of Buenos Aires, led by the world's first Intersectional Travel Agency: Lunfarda Travel.


Our itinerary includes visits to historic sites, such as the National Historic Museum and the Evita Peron Museum, as well as tours of the Recoleta Cemetery and the Peronist neighborhoods of Recoleta and Retiro. You'll also learn the basics of tango in the new Queer Tango dancing scene and enjoy VIP seating and tickets at a milonga.


In addition, you'll have the opportunity to connect with local communities, including the Cape Verdean community in Avellaneda and artist Afro Ana. You'll even participate in a collage workshop, connecting with your ancestry and its power through art.


Our itinerary allows for free time to explore the Recoleta cultural center and artisan's fair or to head to San Telmo for the fair. What we'll do

Our itinerary starts with a tour in the historic city center, San Telmo, were you'll learn about the Black History of the city.  Then, we're off to explore the city and its many hues:  from colorful, immigrant La Boca to posh, French Recoleta, you'll discover the city's rich history. But knowledge alone doesn't make for a life-affirming experience, so expect to indulge in some of the city's tastiest restaurants at our Grafoodie tour, which willl take you through Palermo and off-the-beaten path Villa Crespo. 


Buenos Aires is known for its lively night scene, and we'll take you to the dancefloor: learn the basics of tango in the new Queer Tango dancing scene and enjoy VIP seating and tickets at a milonga, and dance the night away at Kolors afro party!


In addition, you'll have the opportunity to connect with the afro communitiy, including the Cape Verdean community in Avellaneda and artist Kilava, who'll lead a collage workshop, connecting with your ancestry and its power through art.

Stay in the heart of the city

Acommodations at the Curio hotel in San Telmo, the city's oldest community which is full of Black history and life.


The hotel is by the Dorrego Square, a bohemian spot where tango musicians, artisans and artists make for a thriving community, and located 2' away from the historic San Telmo Market, a great foodie landmark.


Breakfast included. A gym is available for use 2 blocks away from the hotel.

Day 1

Welcome to Buenos Aires!

After check in, we'll do a short tour before heading to our welcome dinner


This is how our day will go:


-Pickup at EZE airport - Our host will be at the airport greeting people and welcoming to our city. Private cars or shuttles will to te hotel, according to the number of guests. coming into each flight. Maximum wait time to board a shuttle or bus is 1h.


-Check in at the hotel - Upon arrival to the hotel, our host will welcome you and give you orientation. Relax for a bit in the hotel, or walk around the area to grab a quick lunch at the historic San Telmo Market


-Afternoon Black History Tour in San Telmo. After all guests have arrived, we will have a short intro to San Telmo through its black history. We will check out Dorrego Square, the Minimum House, some local street art, old colonial houses and immigrant tennements.  


-Group welcome dinner. We'll have a delicious group dinner at a local steakhouse (vegetarian and vegan options available!) paired with some great Malbec wine before heading back to the hotel

Exploring the old city

Discover the eclectic colonial and immigrant neighborhoods of Buenos Aires


-10.00 to 16.00 South of the City Walking Tour


Our tour will take us through the colonial city center, Plaza de Mayo, and the modern port district of Puerto Madero. We'll then make our way to La Boca, where we'll stop for a quick lunch and take in the vibrant colors and culture of this bohemian neighborhood.


After lunch, we'll continue our walking tour, exploring the unique architecture and history of La Boca before heading to San Telmo for a mate tasting. During the tasting, we'll also have the opportunity to watch Julia Cohen Ribeiro's short documentary on Maria Remedios del Valle, a revolutionary war heroine.


This day is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the history and culture of Buenos Aires, from the colonial city center to the bohemian neighborhoods of La Boca and San Telmo. Join us for a day of exploration and education as we delve into the rich heritage of Black culture in Buenos Aires.

Getting posh in Recoleta

Discover why Buenos Aires is nicknamed "The Paris of South America", and why we're trying to bring that motto down.


10.00-15.00 Retiro and Recoleta Walking Tour


Join us on our Recoleta and Retiro tour as we explore why Buenos Aires is known as the "Paris of South America" and why this nickname is a source of controversy. We'll take a closer look at the French aesthetic that dominated the city during Argentina's wealthiest era.


Our tour will begin with a visit to the Recoleta Cemetery, the final resting place of many famous Argentines, including Eva Perón. We'll explore the cemetery's intricate mausoleums and learn about the fascinating stories of the people buried here.

After our visit to the Recoleta Cemetery, we'll make our way to Retiro, where we'll discuss the Eurocentric influence on the architecture and design of the city's wealthy neighborhoods. We'll take in the grand mansions and posh hotels that give Buenos Aires its nickname, and discuss the controversy surrounding this title.


We'll end the day with a traditional lunch of empanadas and tamales, a staple of Argentine cuisine. This is the perfect opportunity to chat with your fellow travelers and reflect on the rich cultural and historical experiences of the day.

Taste the best Buenos Aires has to offer while exploring the vibrant street art scene

Experience the culinary creativity of Buenos Aires' young chefs who are revolutionizing traditional dishes into delectable masterpieces. Marvel at the vibrant murals and whimsical paste-ups of the city's street artists.


Begin your day with a delightful breakfast or merienda at a contemporary bakery that offers a range of delectable items like chipa, churros, and original creations. Enjoy artisanal gelato at a historic ice cream parlor.Savor assorted seasonal dishes  and innovative cocktails at a neo-bodegon where Buenos Aires's youth reinvents grandma's cuisine. Sample dishes like pork and almond meatballs, kale buñuelos with citrus aioli, smoked eggplant empanadas that vary according to seasonality.


Discover the off the beaten path Villa Crespo and explore the Flea Market and murals on Dorrego street. Explore Plaza Serrano and its colorful surroundings. This tour offers an opportunity to appreciate the beauty and flavors of Buenos Aires' hidden gems.

Chill in the Tigre Delta

How about a day of navigation, wine by the river and kayaking?


10.00-19.00 Tigre Outing


The northern suburbs of Buenos Aires offer a chance to relax and unwind. The Tigre Delta is a natural gem, with canals and islands to explore. Visitors can discover a world of stilted vacation homes, floating convenience stores, and bus lines. Dine by the water and take a walk through the leafy area of San Isidro, exploring its towering Cathedral and colonial manors.


Explore San Isidro and Tigre City, visiting the port area, rowing and social clubs of the elite. Sail for an hour through the islands with a private water-taxi, and have lunch with wine by the water.


Feeling active? Take up some kayaks and row the afternoon away in the lazy canals of the area. Not so much? Sit with a glass of wine and a good book, or great company, and relax by the water.


Learn about the unique lifestyle of the Northern Suburbs. Discover the Spanish colonial origins of Buenos Aires and the role of the Northern Suburbs. Discover the Tigre Delta, from smugglers haven to weekend paradise, and learn about the life of the islanders, flora, fauna, and geology of the place.

Community meal, collage workshop with Kilava and tango party!

In this day, community, art and music are the heart of it


11.00-15.00 Lunch at the Capeverdean community


We'll head to the outskirts of the city to meet the Capeverdean community and learn about their origins and traditions. We'll have a traditional lunch with members of the community before heading back into the city


16.00-18.00 Collage Workshop with Kilava


Join Kilava, an afroindigenous non-binary mixed media artist, on a journey about identity and ancestry. Prior to our get together, you'll be asked to send pictures of your elders, and of things that make up your own identity


21.00-02.00 Milonga night out


Let's head to the milongas, the tango dance halls where this music has been kept alive for over a century. First, we'll have a lesson on the basic steps of tango, and then, we're off to dance the night away!

We say goodbye to our week in Buenos Aires spending time in community and reflecting about our shared blackness.
