The Ciclopista del sole, the Sun Route (which in its full length goes from Brennero to Firenze) is already a classic: almost all flat with majestic mountains all around, safe and well signposted, with good bike grills where to enjoy a drink at open air tables and nice cities where to stop at. The path initially goes through a peculiar area of Italy: a region where the language, the history of the places, the typical recipes have a lot to do with the German tradition. Once you leave the mountains behind, no German language nor knödeln any more, but polenta and Valpolicella!
You’ll have time to appreciate the artistic treasures of Verona, Vicenza, Padua and Venice and the Venetian Villas along the way. Art, History and Landscapes: the itinerary follows important rivers, such as Adige, Bacchiglione and Brenta, surrounded by a countryside modeled by man with large crops of corn, vines and vegetables. You’ll ride on cycle paths and secondary roads. The final destination of this tour is the unique Venice!

Bolzano is a city rich in history, influenced by Germanic culture and surrounded by the Alps. Take some time to visit Piazza Walther and the narrow central alleys, or visit the museum where the Otzi mummy is kept.
Overnight in Bolzano.
The bicycle itinerary goes South along the verdant Adige valley and crosses immense fields planted with honeycombs and vineyards, always on a flat bike path. Along the way, the village of Egna, an ancient market town with beautiful streets flanked by arcades, deserves a visit. Finally we arrive back to Trento.
Overnight in Trento.
Leave Trento and continue pedaling along the Adige river, in an area dotted with castles, towers and forts, such as the mighty Beseno Castle, which dominates the valley from the top of a hill. We recommend a small detour to visit the beautiful historic center of Rovereto, made up of narrow alleys permeated by a medieval atmosphere. The itinerary continues South, through the town of Ala, with its beautiful noble palaces, and finally arrives at the small village of Rivalta, the destination of the day.
The cycle path runs along the wildest stretch of the Val d'Adige. The valley becomes narrower, guarded by high mountains, the rarest towns and the valley floor covered with immense vineyards surrounded by woods. The route passes through the spectacular Chiusa dell’Adige, a canyon with high walls, and then leaves the cycle path and heads towards Lake Garda. In Bardolino we finally touch the blue waters of the lake, and finally we return to Verona following the Adige cycle path.
Overnight in Verona
After crossing the historic center of Verona, the route immediately goes in the countryside and follows the course of the Adige river along a quiet cycle path. We cycle surrounded by the large crops of the Venetian plain, we pass the village of Zevio and after a few kilometers we say goodbye to the Adige to head East. We follow country roads until we reach the base of the Berici Hills and stop in Lonigo, an elegant and quiet town.
Overnight in Lonigo.
The itinerary follows the base of the verdant Berici Hills, following low traffic country lanes. Along the way we cross elegant Venetian Villas with centenary parks and pass through small villages surrounded by vineyards. You face a couple of gentle climbs that allow you to enjoy the view of the hills from above. Before arriving in Vicenza we admire the famous Villa La Rotonda, perched on a small hill, and finally we enter the beautiful city graced by the buildings by the architect Andrea Palladio.
Overnight in Vicenza.
We follow a stretch of the Berici Cycle Route and then pedal along the cycle path of the Bacchiglione river. We immediately find ourselves immersed in the countryside: Montegalda stands out among the villages we cross, an imposing villa characterize the small hill. The route follows the sinuous Bacchiglione river, passes by the castle of San Martino and finally arrives in the center of Padua.
Overnight in Padua.
The last stage takes you to Venice!
Leave Padova cycling along Brenta river, in the countryside dotted by Venetian villas. Stop and visit one of this time capsules: these noble mansions rich of works of art will take you back of more than 5 centuries.
