About your trip

Join us for a Divine Mercy Pilgrimage in the footsteps of Pope Saint John Paul II, including his birthplace in Wadowice, his episcopal city of Krakow, and the Have No Fear Center preserving his legacy.  Our visits in Warsaw, Niepokalanow, and Auschwitz lead us also discover St. Maximillian Kolbe and St. Teresa Benedicta (Edith Stein), and St. Faustina at the Divine Mercy Sanctuary. Inspired by a visit to the Queen of Poland, Our Lady of Czestochowa, and refreshed by the mountain air of Zakopane, we end our pilgrimage with a visit to Prague, including the statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague. Daily Mass, delicious food, wonderful company make this the a true celebration of God's love and mercy.

Warsaw Arrival

Upon arrival, meet our tour escort at the airport.

Celebration of Mass at Saint Stanislaus Kostka Church, a sanctuary of Blessed Jerzy Popieluszko (time permitting based on arrival).

Transfer to hotel for check-in.

Dinner and overnight at hotel in Warsaw (D).

Day 3: SUN 30 JUNE

Warsaw, Niepokalanow

Visit Niepokalanow, home of the Basilica of the Virgin Mary, and a Franciscan monastery founded by St. Maximillian Kolbe, the remarkable saint arrested by the Nazis who died in Auschwiz, giving his life for another prisoner.

Celebrate Mass.

Return to Warsaw for tour, including Old Town with Barbican, Market Square, St. John Cathedral, Royal Castle Square, Royal Castle, Presidential Palace, St. Ann Church, Holy Cross Church, Nowy Swiat pedestrian street.

Time for lunch on own.

Drive along Royal Route and a visit to Lazienski Park and gardens, Chopin monument, Palace on the Water. 

Welcome Dinner in local restaurant. 

Overnight at hotel in Warsaw (B,D).

Day 4: MON 01 JULY

Warsaw, Czestochowa, Wadowice, Krakow

Early breakfast and departure.

Visit to Czestochowa with guided tour of Jasna Gora Monastery. The Pauline Monastery founded in 1382 houses the priceless treasure of the "Black Madonna" - the miraculous icon of the Mother of God. Also, visit the Treasury, with its artistic and historical collections.

Celebrate Mass.

Time for lunch on own, before continuing to Krakow.

Stop in Wadowice, the birthplace of Saint John Paul II, with visits to his childhood home and the church of his baptism, Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Check in hotel upon arrival in Krakow.

Day 5: TUES 02 JULY

Krakow, Wieliczka, Krakow

After breakfast at hotel, celebrate Mass at local church.

Tour of Krakow, including Wawel Hill, with Wawel Cathedral, one of the most beautiful Renaissance residences in Europe.  Continue to Market Square (the biggest in Europe!) via Kanonicza Street, passing the Papal Window of the Bishop's Palace from which St. John Paul II used to address the crowds. See the patio of Collegium Maius, where the Pope was a student. Visit St. Mary Church, famous for its Wit Stwosz's wooden altar.

Time for lunch on your own.

Travel to the Wieliczka Salt Mines to see where generations of Polish miners created a world of underground lakes with a rich interior of decorating chapels, including the famous Blessed Kinga Chapel. 

Return to Krakow for dinner and overnight at the hotel (B,D).

Krakow, Auschwitz, Divine Mercy, Have No Fear, Krakow

After breakfast at hotel, drive to Auschwitz to visit the Nazi concentration camp where St. Teresa Benedicta (Edith Stein) faced martyrdom, and St. Maximilian Kolbe died in the Death Block from starvation after volunteering his life for that of a fellow prisoner.

Drive to Divine Mercy Sanctuary where we see images of the Merciful Jesus, and the relics of St. Faustina. After visiting the Saint's convent chapel and her tomb, we listen to one of the Sisters tell the story of Divine Mercy.  Celebrate Mass at the Shrine, and enjoy lunch at the Divine Mercy Pilgrimage House. 

Visit "Have No Fear Center" dedicated to St. John Paul II, with time to pray by his relics.

Return to Krakow for dinner and overnight at hotel (B,L,D).

Krakow, Zakopane

After breakfast, we check out of our hotel and set out for Zakopane, Poland's winter capital nestled in the Tatra Mountains.

Enjoy a panoramic tour of Zakopane, including Jaszczurowka Chapel, local bazaars at Krupowki Street.

Celebrate Mass in a local church.

Take an enthralling ride on the horse carriages through the forest ending at a wooden hut, where we enjoy "bigos" (Polish national dish), and sausages on the fire.

Experience a funicular ride to the heights of Mount Gubalowka for a stunning view of the Tatra Mountains and the town of Zakopane. 

Check in at our hotel before dinner at a local restaurant with a traditional folklore show.

Zakopane, Olomouc, Prague

After breakfast and check out, we depart for Prague.

Stop at Olomouc to celebrate Mass at a local church.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

Continue to Prague for check in and dinner at our hotel.

Prague

After breakfast at hotel, we celebrate Mass in a local church.

Enjoy a full day sightseeing in Prague, focusing  on Hradcany Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, the Royal Castle, St. George Basilica, and the Church of Our Lady of Victories to honor the Statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague.

After time for lunch on your own, cross the Charles Bridge to visit the Old Town, the Market Square, "Astronomical Clock," Wenceslaus Square, the Josefov - the Jewish Quarter.

Free time for walking, shopping, relaxing.

Dinner and overnight at hotel in Prague (B,D).

Day 10: SUN 07 JULY

Prague

After our hotel breakfast, we celebrate Mass in a local church.

The rest of the day is at leisure to explore beautiful Prague, with time for shopping, sightseeing, and relaxing. 

We gather for a Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant with a folklore show.

Departure for USA

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before check out and transfer to Prague International Airport for our flights home.

Read before you register!

This is an active itinerary that requires about 15,000 steps walking each day, sometimes on uneven surfaces, including stairs. Begin to prepare through a daily walking program. 


As a pilgrimage, we will commit ourselves to working together to cooperate and support one another, realizing that different foods, cultures, and experiences are why we are traveling! The unexpected is God's way of sharing with us something (or someone) we otherwise would not have encountered.  Be ready to travel in patience and trust. 

 

Quoted prices are based on payment by check. An additional 1% + 30¢ online processing fee is charged for all online transactions, with an additional 2.9% (Visa, Mastercard)-3.9% (American Express) service charge for credit/debit card payments. There is no online processing fee nor service charge for registrations (or subsequent payments) mailed directly to Cloverdale Travel with payment by check. You do hereby authorize all charges as outlined in the payment plan and Terms and Condition/Terms of Service. 


Flights offered with this trip are Group Air Reservations.  All seating assignments are made by the airline. If you have very specific needs regarding seating and flight accommodations, you should make your own flight arrangements and book the pilgrimage without adding air.  Switches from Land with Air to Land only after booking incur a $100 fee. 


Individual deposits are refundable except for a $500/person handling fee for cancellations made 90 days or more prior to departure. 


For cancellations 90 to 60 days prior to departure, you will be refunded everything except your initial deposit ($1000). 


If you cancel the trip within 60 days of departure, all payments are non-refundable. 

Unused portions of the trip are non-refundable.

 

Cloverdale Travel cannot refund credit card/bank fees, nor refund money paid for travel protection/insurance.


Trip cancellation/protection plan is optional, but highly encouraged. Travel protections plans are available through Travelex, or through your own carrier. A link to Travelex will be included in your confirmation email.  If I decline to purchase travel protection/insurance, I assume all financial liability for losses that might have been covered by appropriate travel insurance/protection.


Please email a copy of your passport picture page to info@cloverdaletravel.org. Passports must be valid for 6 months after our return date. 


Beginning in 2024/2025, the European Union is requiring travel authorization (ETIAS) to enter most European countries.  This permission is different from a residence permit or visa, is obtained online, and is good for three (3) years (or until your passport expires). Obtaining the ETIAS permission is the responsibility of the traveler. See www.https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en for more information. 


Please note that pricing is based on 25 pilgrims and based on an exchange rate of $1= € 1.15. Prices may be adjusted based on fewer than 25 pilgrims, a higher exchange rate, or increases in taxes and fuel surcharges. 


Errors and omissions are possible in this itinerary, pricing, and communication; we are not responsible for such errors and may make corrections, including in billing, as needed to correct mistakes.
