Join us for an invigorating weekend in Afton State Park's Group campground! This is an opportunity to enjoy the wilderness just an hour away from the Twin Cities and get some experience camping in the great outdoors along with some great leadership activities. If you are or have any interest in volunteering or being a leader/guide, you should definitely come and check out what we do and who we are! Or, maybe you're just curious about us or thinking about participating on one of our trips. Check us out!
We have reserved a group site and will have some large canvas group tents along with a variety of other tents. We will also have some shelters in case of any of that wettish precipitation.
We can provide equipment or you can bring your own. We will provide all the food. There is ample firewood provided for those great nighttime campfires and water is available nearby. It’s a wilderness experience such a short distance from the city! There are many miles of beautiful hiking trails, places to explore along the bluffs and a swimming beach (a bit of a hike from the camping area though).
This is the perfect opportunity to try out camping, see how Wild Hearts Adventures operates and meet some great people! Wild Hearts provides all of the equipment, food and guides.
We can provide transportation for up to 12 people with our van leaving from the Burnsville, Minnesota area to Afton State Park or you can meet us there. There is room for additional vehicles at the group site but if we run out of room we can also shuttle you from the visitor center parking lot to the campsite.
You will only be responsible for your clothing and a few personal items. You can, however, bring your own tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, camp chair, etc.
All of our trips are donation-based and our desire is to raise funds for each participant. If you sign up for a trip, we ask that you raise (with our help) the equivalent of the price listed.
Our goal as a nonprofit organization is to provide wilderness adventures for folks from all walks of life. We especially strive to provide these trips for folks who are struggling with life challenges. Because of this, we are donation funded. The cost listed is a donation. For many participants fund-raising is appropriate and we can help with that. Others may be able to cover the donation cost themselves. If you are covering the cost of a trip that you are going on, keep in mind that it is not tax-deductable as there is a value you are receiving, associated with this activity.
If you would like to donate funds beyond the cost of your trip, we take additional donations at:
We will transport up to 12 people
We provide all food while in the wilderness
We provide all equipment necessary for your adventure
We provide leaders to guide you through your adventure
We do not provide food during travel
You must have your own health insurance
We encourage you to attend Friday evening as we will be cooking a wonderous dinner and hanging out, getting to know each other. It will also allow you to be there, ready to go on Saturday morning, not to mention participating in our equally wonderous breakfast!
Saturday is the main day. If you can only come for a day, pick Saturday. Today we will be talking about all stuff Wild Hearts and also have some activities (fun ones!) and some opportunities for you to learn about being a guide, going on our trips and camping essentials.
On Sunday we'll be mostly hanging out in the morning, munching down on another wonderous meal, then packing up, have a little lunch and head home.
