These two iconic cities aren't short of local clubs, with the most famous and popular being Flamengo. While you're in Rio, why not stop in for a stadium tour of one of South America's largest & historic stadiums, the Maracanã. At So Local Tour Company, we understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and you may need to cancel your tour. Our cancellation policy is as follows:


Deposits

A none refundable deposit of $500 per person is required to secure your booking.

This deposit is non-transferable and cannot be applied to another tour or date.

 

Cancellation Fees


If you cancel your tour 60 days or more prior to the departure date, you will forfeit your non-refundable deposit of $500 per person. If you cancel your tour between 59-30 days prior to the departure date, you will be charged 50% of the total tour cost. If you cancel your tour 29 days or less prior to the departure date, you will be charged 100% of the total tour cost.

 

Refunds

Refunds will be processed within 14 business days of receiving written notification of cancellation. Refunds will be issued in the original form of payment.

 

Travel Insurance


We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect yourself against unforeseen circumstances that may cause you to cancel your tour. Travel insurance may provide coverage for trip cancellations, interruptions, and delays, as well as medical emergencies and evacuations.

In the unlikely event that So Local Tour Company cancels your tour, you will receive a full refund of all monies paid, including your non-refundable deposit.

 

Changes to the tour Itinerary


So Local Tour Company reserves the right to make changes to the tour itinerary, including accommodations, transportation, and activities, due to unforeseen circumstances or circumstances beyond our control.

 In the event of changes to the tour itinerary, So Local Tour Company will notify you in writing and provide a revised itinerary.

Salvador da Bahia is the capital of the state of Bahia in Brazil. It is the third-largest city in Brazil, after São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, and the first capital of Brazil. The city has a lot to offer visitors, including beautiful beaches and historical sites. Today is recognized as Afro Capital because 80% of its inhabitants are black. Some of the most popular tourist attractions in Salvador include:


Pelourinho: The Pelourinho is the historic center of Salvador. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to many colonial-era buildings, churches, and museums. The epicenter of the Afro-Brazilian community.


Igreja do Bonfim: The Igreja do Bonfim is a church located in the Pelourinho. It is a popular pilgrimage site and is known for its brightly colored tiles.


Elevador Lacerda: The Elevator Lacerda is an elevator that connects the Pelourinho to the lower city. It is a popular tourist attraction and offers great views of the city.


Farol da Barra: The Farol da Barra is a lighthouse located on the Barra beach. It is a popular tourist attraction and offers great views of the city and the ocean. Salvador is a great place to visit for a vacation. The city has a lot to offer visitors, and is sure to leave you with memories that will last a lifetime.

São Joaquim and Mercado Modelo, two of Salvador’s most iconic markets. This tour is designed for curious travelers, food lovers, and anyone interested in experiencing the pulse of Bahia’s Afro-Brazilian soul.


Stop 1: São Joaquim Market

Location: Along the waterfront between Comércio and Calçada

Step into Salvador’s largest open-air market, a labyrinth of vibrant stalls, Afro-Brazilian culture, and the raw, rhythmic heart of Bahia. This market is where locals shop—not just for food, but for identity.


What to Experience:


Afro-Brazilian Ingredients: Sample and learn about dendê (palm oil), dried shrimp, manioc flour (farinha), okra (quiabo), and dried fish used in moqueca and acarajé.

  • Candomblé Offerings: Explore the spiritual side of the market—flowers, herbs, and items used in rituals to honor the orixás (Afro-Brazilian deities).
  • Exotic Fruits and Spices: Taste seasonal tropical fruits—mangaba, umbu, caja, jackfruit—and smell pungent Bahian spices.
