Before You Book: Course Requirements

Prerequisites and requirements:

  • Completion of Sarga 101: In-Person within the last 2 years is mandatory. Online 101 completion and Evaluations alone are NOT ACCEPTED.

  • If you're joining us for Sarga 101 & 102, you will meet this requirement.

  • Must meet your state/country's massage licensure requirements.

  • Must have current liability/malpractice insurance in the state/country where you practice (no exceptions).

  • Must add Vitality Therapeutic Massage & Yoga, LLC temporarily to their insurance to cover the use of equipment (no exceptions).

  • Review: www.sargabodywork.com/prepare.

  • Fitness level is especially important for Sarga Bodywork practices on raised massage tables.  Setting yourself up for success is paramount, as the main feedback from participants is that they overestimated their fitness level.  SARGA STRONG is an online course that aims to help Sarga Bodywork practitioners and students learn and perform Sarga Bodywork with confidence. This is an excellent resource for students who are preparing to attend a Sarga Bodywork course in person: https://www.sargabodywork.com/learn/sarga-strong

Student weight and fitness as it relates to classroom safety and the capacities of treatment equipment used in the classroom:

We understand that weight alone does not determine fitness, balance, or capability. However for safety reasons, we ask that you inform us if you are outside of the biometrics listed below, as we will inquire further to ensure that the techniques taught in our courses can be performed safely and within the working limits of our equipment, especially since the Sarga Silk allows practitioners to generate additional force beyond bodyweight. Note that being outside of the biometrics listed below do not necessarily exclude you from our course offerings! If you would like to discuss these options or anything else related to this topic, please check the 3rd box below or contact me at: linda.caravia@vitalitytmy.com

Registering for a course on raised massage tables: Participants are not less than 100lbs in weight, more than 165lbs in weight, or more than 6' in height. Tthe importance of my honesty as it relates to safety and liability in this regard is paramount. Failure to disclose this information may result in needing to make equipment and/or technique modifications during class, and may even result in dismissal if classroom safety is compromised.

Additionally, here are 4 fitness measurements to gauge your ability to learn and perform Sarga Bodywork with success:

1.The ability to balance on one foot for at least 1 minute without holding onto anything for support. Please note: excessive ankle inversion or supination can limit your ability in class as well as ankle injuries with limited dorsiflexion. We highly recommend ankle and knee stabilizing exercises to be prepared for this course.

2. Excellent cardiovascular conditioning and the ability to perform cardiovascular exercise (jogging, swimming, etc.) for 10-15 minutes without stopping.

3. The ability to perform at least 3 sets of 20 squats.

4. The ability to isometrically hold a plank for at least 1 minute.

If you do not feel confident that you could meet these four requirements or if the location equipment and classroom cannot accommodate the height and weight parameters above, but you would still like to attend a Sarga Bodywork course, then our floor-based courses would be the best fit for you!  Please contact sarga@sargabodywork.com directly for floor based course inquiries. While basic strength and conditioning is still important here, a floor-based practice provides practitioners a much wider and more stable working area, and fitness level is less of a consideration.
