One of the advantages of scuba diving in Tenerife is that you can do it all year round! The average water temperature in May is 73°F. We recommend a 3-5mm wetsuit!
Diverse scenery and wildlife can be seen while diving in Tenerife. Towering basalt rock columns, caves, and swim-throughs were produced by the island’s volcanic origins. From the reef-dwelling Morays, Seahorses, Scorpionfish, Octopuses, Cuttlefishes, and Lobsters to the schooling Barracuda, Roncadores, and Bream, we also enjoy clear, warm water in all of our dive sites.
A number of wrecks add some variety to the landscape and, over time, have developed into captivating artificial reefs that are teeming with life. The Green Turtles are one of our most well-known and well-liked resident species and they love our rocky coastline and the meadows of sea-grass.
Volcanic island with beautiful beaches of glistening black sand, blue skies and mountains are the setting for many of Tenerife's diving spots.
Scuba diving in Tenerife means diversifying your experiences, as sandy bottoms alternating with rocks and cliffs overlooking the sea are suitable for all levels, from beginner to expert and even technical divers. In the depths of Tenerife reside many and different forms of aquatic life, some of these now live only in the Canary Islands or migrate at specific times of the year.
Many diving spots in Tenerife are characterized by volcanic environments, which worked by the erosion of the sea have formed caves, tunnels and truly unique environments.
Earn this PADI certification on the trip!
There’s been a steady decline in worldwide sea turtle populations, but there are ways to fight this. Learn basic sea turtle identification, how to record sightings and conservation steps you can take. Two scuba dives are required for the certification!
**for scuba divers only**

Ciara's recommendation! There are direct flights from IAD to Madrid with united! Check the times for the Iberian or Ryanair flights from Madrid to TFS, I was able to find several that synched with the trips dates/times. On the way out take TFS to Madrid , stay the night in Madrid and fly out the next day direct to IAD!
There are few options for quick flights from BWI to Tenerife (recommend TFS). We recommend trying IAD (Dulles)! There are several flights from IAD to TFS with one layover location (usually Madrid). There are quick(er) flights with delta with a layover in Atlanta from BWI.
The airlines with the fastest flights to Tenerife appear to be: American, British Airways, and Iberia (you can check Iceland Air as well, especially if you want to do a stopover in Iceland - highly recommended if you have time)!
British Airways has great flight options (BWI or IAD to TFS/TFS to IAD/DCA) when we last looked on 25 Nov 23. I looked directly on their website.
Transfers are ONLY from TFS to/from the hotel. Please book accordingly. If you have to fly into/out of TFN let Ciara know ASAP!
We recommend Divers Alert Network (DAN) Trip Insurance: CLICK HERE
You can also become a DAN member and sign up for specific dive coverage CLICK HERE

Tenerife is generally safe for solo female travellers. The island is well-known for its friendly locals and vibrant nightlife, and the crime rate is low. However, as with any destination, it is important to take the necessary precautions to ensure your safety, such as avoiding walking alone at night, being aware of your surroundings, and not leaving your belongings unattended.

Yes. In Spain, according to the law, every diver must have a scuba diving insurance (or a travel/health insurance that covers scuba diving). We recommend Divers Alert Network (DAN) Trip Insurance: CLICK HERE
