Welcome to Egypt, the gift of the Nile! Upon arrival at Cairo international Airport (CAI), you will be met and assisted by our representative who will help you during Visa procedures and customs formalities. Together, we will head to our hotel by private vehicle. Overnight in Cairo. (no meals included in itinerary)
After breakfast at our hotel, we will meet our tour guide to begin our journey! Today, we visit the Pyramids of Giza, with awe inspiring panoramas around the Pyramids & Sphinx. Then, we will make a stop to explore how the ancient Egyptian made paper at the Papyrus Institute. After a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, we will visit the amazing Sakkara and the Step Pyramid, which was built and designed by the most famous ancient architect Imhotep. After visiting Sakkara, we will continue to the city of Memphis, the oldest capital of the Ancient Egypt Empire. Overnight in Cairo. (B, L)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will meet with our tour guide for a tour around Cairo. We start the tour with a visit to the citadel and Mohamed Ali mosque which is known as Alabaster Mosque. From there, we will drive to Old Cairo where will visit the Hanging church, the holy Crypt of Jesus & Ben Azra Synagogue. We pause our touring for lunch at a local restaurant, before ending our tour with visits to the Islamic Cairo and the bazaars of Khan Khalili. Overnight in Cairo. (B, L)
After breakfast at our hotel, we journey to Alexandria with our guide. Here, we explore the Catacomb of Kom El Shaqafa, a cemetery during the Greek and Roman times. Then, we visit the Pompey Pillar and the Temple of Serapeum (Apis). From here, we drive to the Corniche of Alexandria (beach of Mediterranean sea) and visit the Citadel of Qaitbay. After a stop for lunch, we continue our tour with visits to the mosque of Morsi Abu Abbas and the Library of Alexandria. We return to Cairo for the evening. Overnight in Cairo. (B, L)
After breakfast at the hotel, we check out and head to the airport to fly to Luxor. Upon arrival at the Luxor airport, we will meet our tour guide to start the journey to our Nile Cruise. Before boarding our cruise for a relaxing lunch, we will visit the East bank of Luxor. After lunch, we visit the Luxor Temple to enjoy the amazing sites and beautiful sunset. We return to the cruise ship for dinner. Overnight on Nile Cruise. (B, L, D)
You have the option of taking a sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride above Luxor City (not included, pre-registration required).
Breakfast is on board. Today, we explore the west bank in Luxor, including a visit to the valley of Kings and entering the three royal tombs (one of which is King Tutankhamun’s). We will then visit the Hatshepsut Temple. We will head back to the Nile Cruise for lunch on board. We then sail towards Aswan with afternoon tea and the beautiful scenery of the Nile valley. We arrive in Esna, where we will cross the lock to be in a higher level of water, which is the best view during our travel of Egypt! Dinner is on board. Overnight on Nile Cruise. (B, L, D)
Breakfast is on board. Today we will join our guide to visit Edfu Temple, which is an amazing example of ancient Egypt architecture. The temple is famous for its beauty and its sacred boat. We then head back to our cruise for lunch on board and a few hours of sailing. We arrive in Kom Ombo and take a short walk on the east edge of the Nile. We then visit the temple of Kom Ombo and Crocodile Museum. We head back to our cruise for dinner and to sail to Aswan. Overnight on Nile Cruise. (B, L, D)
After breakfast on board, we take a tour of Abu Simbel in Aswan. We return to the cruise for lunch on board. This afternoon, we visit one of the biggest dams and largest manmade lakes on the planet. Then we visit the Nubian Village where we can experience this unique African culture. Dinner is back on board. Overnight on Nile Cruise. (B, L, D)
After breakfast on board, we travel by a small boat to see the Temple of Philae and the beautiful Isis Island. After the boat tour, we then visit the unfinished obelisk and the quarry of granite in Aswan. Depending on our flight time back to Cairo, we will have lunch in either Aswan or Cairo. We arrive back in Cairo for our final night together. Overnight in Cairo. (B, L)
After breakfast at our hotel, we will go to the Egyptian Museum to see the Treasures of ancient Pharaohs. In the afternoon, we will explore the Khan el-Khalili Market. In the evening, we join together for our farewell dinner. Afterwards, we proceed to the airport for our very late-night flights home. (B, L)

Sarah Raymond (Sunlight Tours Trip Director) is passionate about travel and the way it opens us up to the world. Learning the stories of other people and places broadens our own perspective and understanding. Sarah has been leading trips for almost 20 years, but in 2019, she made the leap and started her own tour company.
